The Essbase Developer needs to be an expert at designing, developing and implementing Hyperion Essbase solutions. The candidate will be responsible for gathering requirements, developing, designing and implementing new Financial Planning and Reporting systems using Hyperion Essbase. This position's responsibility will include working directly with business users in analyzing requirements, providing solutions, and implementing development of agreed upon solutions using Essbase. The developer will be part of the Data Warehouse team. The candidate will work closely with the Data Architects and the ETL team in designing, developing and implementing business intelligence solutions including user reporting. The candidate will be responsible for supporting existing Essbase applications.

Work closely with business to understand strategic and financial objectives and translate them into technical specifications and applications using Hyperion Essbase
Construct & implement physical database models and structures in Hyperion's Essbase database
Support existing Hyperion Essbase applications
Troubleshoot problems with Essbase applications and reports
Provide training to end user community
Work closely with Data Architect and ETL lead in developing solutions for the business community
Develop Essbase reporting in MS office environment (VBA-API)
Participate and provide input to the source system and ETL team in designing data extraction and transformation software components required to build Essbase input files
Implement applications using established testing procedures and change control processes
Implements business intelligence solutions by categorizing; applying analysis and implementation tools; developing code; documenting solutions
Provides business intelligence information by integrating querying, reporting, OLAP, data mining; trouble-shooting information systems

 

Qualifications:

5+ years of experience developing, designing and implementing Hyperion Essbase solutions
Strong Knowledge of Rules files, Calc Scripts, MaxL and ESSCMD Scripts
Expertise in designing ASO, BSO and partitioning applications
Ability to understand complex business requirements and translate into business intelligence solutions
Ability to understand complex business needs, logical problem solving ability, and strong written and verbal communication skills are required
Strong requirements gathering, interpersonal and relationship building skills
Good understanding of Financial Planning, Budgeting and Forecasting
Business Objects experience will be strong plus
Teradata experience will be a strong plus
Experience or expertise with implementing Hybrid Cubes will be a strong plus
Experience or expertise with report development using API
Knowledge of relational data warehouse database design and SQL
Understanding of Business Intelligence concepts
Relational and Multidimensional knowledge and understanding
Proactive, frequent communication with customers to build and maintain a solid working relationship
Proactive, frequent communication within and across different technology teams
Ability to use effective written and verbal communications with the customer and technology team
Ability to write clear and concise documentation and reports
Advanced diagnostic and technical analysis skills
Demonstrate knowledge of technical and data architecture concepts and their practical application
Self-directed

Experience Required:

Strong working knowledge of features, limitations, security, and business utilization of Hyperion System 9 BI+. Primary product knowledge must include Essbase
Experience with Hyperion Planning, Web Analysis, Visual Explorer and Financial Reporting will be a big plus
Demonstrated technical expertise in development, tuning, testing, and problem resolution of Essbase and other related products.
Substantial experience collecting business intelligence requirements and developing business intelligence solutions.
Experience in data warehouse/OLAP environments
Experience with data warehouse design and architecture
Experience with Planning and Reporting Processes and Systems
Home Entertainment experience
Experience following and developing with SDLC methodology
