Position Profile:

1105 Government Information Group has an immediate opening for an enthusiastic and talented Sales Director for its Events and Conferences division.  This individual will have overall responsibility for maximizing the sales team’s potential and achieving aggressive growth targets for over 25 conferences and events. 

 

The ideal candidate is a hands-on manager who will be responsible for the overall production of the sales team.  This person will be intimately involved in all facets of the sales process, form inception to closing.  It will require the ability to create and nurture an environment that is conducive to learning, maximizing the sales team’s potential and achieving aggressive growth targets.  Effective coordination and communication across all internal marketing and operations groups is a must.

 

Primary responsibilities include:

· Managing all aspects of exhibit and sponsorship sales for a Trade Show 200 plus an additional trade show, 17 conferences, and custom events. 

· Setting the direction and maintaining the standards for an effective sales and promotional environment. 

· Providing direction, set expectations and goals, and motivate a team of 10 salespeople.

· Managing budgets, expenses and revenue and identifying areas of growth and new opportunities for events and conferences. 

· Engaging (where appropriate) across entire organization to seek out partnerships and cross-promotional opportunities.

· Developing and maintaining strategic relationships with outside organizations

 

This position is considered one with high visibility and accountability and reports to the Vice President of Events for Government Information Group.

 

 

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred, plus min. 5 years of experience in trade show booth and sponsorship sales.

· Min. 3 years experience managing sales efforts.  Proven ability to lead and motivate a sales team to increase revenue

· Successful track record of working with sales organizations to achieve and exceed sales goals

· Inspire others with drive and motivation to sell aggressively.

· Committed to developing skills and talents of people.  Demonstrates ability to coach performance in areas such as quality, revenue, customer service, and productivity.

· Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills

· Knowledge of the government technology market is a plus
