Director of Multimedia, Chicago Province of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits)

The Director of Multimedia in the Communications Office is responsible for executing assigned projects and generating new and creative multimedia productions that represent the Jesuits and their institutions and ministries for a variety of media channels (website, e-newsletter, CD, DVD, public presentations, radio, television). Works closely with the Director of Communications to assess and serve the needs of the Provincial (CEO) and his Assistants (VPs) for all sectors; oversees productions, schedules, and budgets from concept to completion; manages in-house and/or freelance team as necessary; establishes expectations; communicates regularly with all stakeholders; and delivers on deadlines. Manages all electronic and hard copy archives and audio-visual equipment.

Responsibilities: Collaborates with the Director of Communications to assess needs of the Jesuits and ministries of the Province (region) and create appropriate multimedia productions Guides each client in understanding the best methodologies for achieving the goals of each project Develops high-level creative concepts and vision for projects Creates short- and long-term multimedia plans and budgets Manages the day-to-day operations of all activities related to multimedia development, imaging, user interface and all other product designs Leads a team that varies with the needs of each project, including in-house and/or off-site designers, developers, directors, graphic artists, researchers, script writers/editors, and video/photography experts Coordinates the acquisition of images, graphics, and multimedia content while adhering to copyright and permission laws Maintains digital assets catalog for archival and retrieval of media and management of licenses Repurposes source content into multiple formats for internal and external web pages (Province site as well as third-party sites such as YouTube, GodTube, Podbean, Facebook, Legacy.com), AV screens, CDs, DVDs, PowerPoint presentations, etc Regularly enhances the look, feel, and functionality of existing electronic media via interactive features, animated graphics, etc Trains staff and end-users as necessary; conducts workshops Travels as necessary for video/photo shoots, consultations with clients and freelancers, conferences, courses, etc Stays current with new technologies and industry standards Ensures AV equipment and software are up to date and in working condition



Minimum Qualifications: 3-5 years experience in digital multimedia production field Bachelor's degree in multimedia production or related field, or equivalent experience; advanced degree a plus Thorough knowledge of audio recording and video production; web design/webmaster skills a plus Portfolio of work demonstrating persuasive audio, video, and multimedia productions  Strong organizational, writing, and communication skills Proven ability to work independently and in a team environment, take direction, and manage multiple projects simultaneously within time and budget constraints  Familiarity with industry-standard computer design packages such as Adobe Photoshop, Macromedia Director, Macromedia Flash and Flash 3D Animator, Director, Dreamweaver, Apple Final Cut Pro Knowledge of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits)
