Development Associate-Database Specialist

Youth Radio is an award-winning independent producer of youth media. Since 1992 it has trained thousands of teenagers in broadcast journalism, engineering, web design, media literacy, and more. The broadcasts of our students have won numerous awards including the Peabody Award and two Edward R. Murrow Awards, as well as awards from American Women in Radio & Television and the National Association of Black Journalists. Youth Radio reporters are regular contributors to national outlets including National Public Radio, the Pacifica Network, and iTunes, and our programming now reaches an audience of over 27 million each year. Youth Radio is seeking a highly motivated Development Associate-Database Specialist to join our development team. The associate will be an integral part of the team and will play a key role in building the long-term sustainability of Youth Radio’s programs. The associate will work with department heads to collect agency-widedata, manage the data tracking and reporting systems, and assist in the preparation of proposals, reports and communications to Youth Radio stakeholders including public and private funders, participants, and community and business partners.

 The successful candidate will be a strong communicator with a hands-on,solution-oriented approach. The candidate will possess superb attention to detail, punctuality, and follow-through.At least two years experience with database software and the readiness to join a highly productive development department required.

 

DUTIES:

·   Under the supervision of the Development Director, serve as primary administrator of the organization’s fundraising and participant databases. Duties include data entry, ensuring data accuracy, report and query design, and data extraction and formatting.

·   Assisting the proposal preparation process including assembling attachments according to funder guidelines, copy editing proposal narratives, and assisting in the drafting of narratives as needed.

·   Process all donations and ensure that donor acknowledgements are sent in a timely and accurate manner.

·   Support agency wide usage of Efforts to Outcomes (ETO) online database system,including data entry, data clean-up and data extraction.

·   Conducts the organization,storage,management, security, retrieval and dissemination of data

·   Provides technical support with databases and specialized training for staff.

·   Coordinates improvements to the data collection and management systems.

·   Superviseyoung adult interns as needed. 

·   Other duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

·   Demonstrated ability to work with databases and an advanced understanding of data maintenance, extraction and report design.

·   Experience working with Donor Perfect or Efforts-to-Outcomes a plus.

·   Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite, (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Calendaring, etc)

·   Experience with database software, including building systems for data entry and data extraction.

·   Experience with technical troubleshooting and training.

·   Excellent communication and team-work skills.

·   Ability to multi-task and problem-solve.

·   Willingness to learn new skills.

·   Highly organized, attentive to detail, and possessing solid follow-through skills.

·   AA required. BA/BS or higher degree preferred.
