Virology Scientist
Lab Support, A Division of On Assignment, is currently working on a Direct Hire opening with a contract biopharmaceutical client located in the Western suburbs of Philadelphia. They have an opening for a Scientist I in their Virology group.BASIC SUMMARY: Serve as an entry level scientist in the conduct of assigned research studies, to include study management, interpretation and reporting of study data, and assuring the regulatory compliance of these projects. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • With guidance from senior scientific staff, function effectively as a principal investigator in the direction and execution of assigned basic studies in compliance with GMP regulations. • Assist in monitoring the acquisition of study data. • Initiate and perform assays according to defined protocols • Review, interpret, integrate, and present data on assigned studies, using the assistance of senior scientific staff as appropriate. • Assist in reviewing procedures • Draft protocols on standard client-specific studies • Provide technical guidance to laboratory personnel. • Advise data management personnel in the tabulation and statistical analyses of study data. • Investigate and develop new methodologies used in study conduct. • Assist in long-term projects (redesign of SOPs, basic research procedures or report formats). • Attend scientific meetings, conferences and training courses to enhance job and professional skills. • Function as contact, with guidance from senior scientific staff, for the planning and execution of Sponsor interaction related to assigned studies, including proposal management and study scheduling, conduct and reporting. • Perform all other related duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: • Education/Experience: Ph.D. with 0-3 years of experience or Master’s degree (M.S.) with 2-5 years in the contract testing or pharmaceutical industry. • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above. • Certification/Licensure: None. • Other: Full understanding of regulatory requirements of study types assigned, as well as Testing Facility SOPs and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). Effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to handle multiple projects, prioritize work and meet deadlines. Proficiency in the use of standard software including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc. and with standard laboratory calculations and interpretation.
