Position Description:
Basic Function and Scope of the Position:Responsible for developing and executing the strategic plan for the supply chain function including the purchase and procurement of materials, parts, supplies, and equipment. Tasks and Responsibilities:• Develops and executes the strategy for supply chain function to aggressively reduce the cost of key materials, components and subsystems, reduce material lead times and inventory requirements and associated working capital needs• Must be familiar with current trends, practices and metrics in global supply chain management• Achieving key material operational performance targets to include:• On Time to Mfg• On Time to Customer• Cost Reduction• Inventory turns and accuracy• Establish global strategy and plan for sourcing, material supply, production capacity, logistics, and availability to meet forecast.• Oversees the management of global supply and build planning to include inventory management, master scheduling, forecasting, and logistics of production to meet the global demand plan.• Manages all global supply chain and related functions with specific emphasis on:• Developing systems and processes to achieve company goals for on-time supplier deliveries partnering with supplier performance org• Create item specific forecasts over a rolling time horizon to be used for ordering and inventory management purposes. • Create integrated processes among Operations, Purchasing, Logistics, and outside suppliers to execute the planning/replenishment process. • Identify systems tools needed to implement planning/forecasting systems. • Lead reengineering efforts as it relates to supply chain planning and execution systems.• Manage and supervise staff tasked with creating material requirement plans and/or forecasts• Establish key performance metrics and benchmarks relating to supply chain planning / forecasting• Measure actual performance against goals on regular basis and present results to senior management• Operate in compliance with FDA, ISO, and SOX regulatory requirements and guidelines.• Prepares and reviews contracts, bids, proposals, and vendor agreements for price and acceptability of items.• Oversees all activities related to procurement of a commodity, from intent to purchase through delivery.• Negotiates or supervises the negotiation of complex requests for equipment, supplies, and services from suppliers and subcontractors.• Present operational results, activities, etc. to Executive Management and make recommendations and plan for improving.• Provide leadership to organization, mentoring to staff and ensure all staff are adequately trained• Partner with other executives in engineering and operations/manufacturing to achieve company and functional goals.All listed tasks and responsibilities are deemed as essential functions to this position; however, business conditions may require reasonable accommodations for additional task and responsibilities.Preferred Educational Background:College/University Degree in Business, Operations Management, or equivalent field. MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred. CPM, APICS, Six Sigma or similar certification preferred.Preferred Experiential Background:• 15 - 20 years in a progressive supply chain management with significant experience in a high volume manufacturing facility• 5+ years in Sr Management or equivalent role• Demonstrated experience in sourcing techniques to provide cost savings and better materials• Strong leadership, communication (both verbal and written) skills• Excellent business, financial and negotiating skills are required along with knowledge of quality systems, lean manufacturing processes and project management knowledge• Technical knowledge of highly engineered products, manufacturing processes, manufacturing information systems, and state-of-the-art supply chain practices would be helpful • Strong working knowledge of MRP and ERP systems• Knowledge of world class sourcing tools and experience implementing themSupervisory Responsibilities:•Strong leadership skills with fundamental expertise in talent development and performance management. The ability to indentify, select and develop critical talent is essential
