Veterinary Technician - Temporary to Hire!Kelly Scientific has an immediate opening for a Veterinary Technician at a leading research institution in Durham, NC. This is a contract-to-hire position with 1st shift hours from 7:30am-4:00pm.Responsibilities and Requirements:Perform and participate in routine and standardized technical tasks such as the monitoring of health status to provide for the health care of animals.Coordinate and participate in the performance of routine and standardized tests which includes weighing animals, obtaining specimens, and observing behavioral patterns.Administer daily treatments and medications for animals as instructed or required and assist in routine and emergency medical treatment. Further NHP duties will include participating in developing and maintaining an appropriate and varied enrichment plan for NHPs and documenting such efforts.Perform antibody production in a variety of species, which requires knowledge of antigen boosting and blood collection techniques.Ensure complete and accurate maintenance of all animal records.Anesthetize animals as required and serve as circulating nurse during procedures requiring anesthetized animals.Assist in animal surgery as requested.Skills:- Venipuncture, surgical assistance, animal restraint (especially NHP) radiology, and injections.- Clinical observations & evaluations of animal health status- Basic diagnostic lab techniques- Rodent, guinea pig, rabbit health evaluation and treatment- Phlebotomy, placing catheters, preparing surgical packs- Antibody production processEducation and Experience:- Associate's Degree in Veterinary Technology or B.S. in Animal Science or Pre-Veterinary Medicine- 2 years experience (at least one of which was in a lab animal facility) Learn more about company
