VP of Clinical Science, provides scientific & medical education & training.

The Company is focused on cardiopulmonary diagnostics, respiratory core lab services, and disease management solutions designed to improve health care productivity while increasing the overall quality of patient care.  nSpire Health is the exclusive provider of premier digital whole body plethymography, lung home health monitoring, and the only premium flow and volume based pulmonary function solutions provider worldwide. POSITION SUMMARYThe Vice President of Clinical Science, as a member of the Executive Leadership Team, has full responsibility for the Company’s Clinical Science efforts.  The VP of Clinical Science, reporting directly to the President / CEO and in coordination with other members of the Global Management Team provides Scientific and Medical education and training for the Company and leads Scientific and Medical Advisory Board activities for the Company.

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Develops, establishes and leads activities of a Scientific/Medical Advisory Board evaluating product futures and strategic business directions in conjunction with the Company’s Executive Team and Strategic Plan.

o Recruits and evaluates medical advisors in coordination with the Chairman of the advisory board

· Leads the exchange of scientific, technical and clinical information (emerging technologies, clinical developments and clinical practice guidelines) between the Company’s senior staff, medical advisory board and key opinion leaders in the industry.

· Provides education to the executive staff and engineering on clinical topics of interest in strategic business areas of interest i.e., respiratory disease management; multi-modality approaches

· Assist in identifying potential strategic partners and initiate and direct proof of concept studies (locally or multi-center) relating to the Company’s core product areas; supports existing partners to clinically evaluate new/emerging clinical applications/technologies and publish findings.

o Participates in design of clinical trials for new products, reviews and approves project deliverables such as protocols, publishable reports and other investigator outputs.

· Designs, develops and delivers effective, saleable, accredited (CME and CEU) clinical educational materials offered via the internet and through presentations, symposia, continuing education seminars, programs and other vehicles to grow sales and advance the Company’s brand and image from the “professionals” perspective

o Identifies educational projects

o Designs scope of education content, target audience and level of pre-requisite knowledge, curricula, and formats

o Acquires accrediting for all course materials (CME, CEU, etc)

· Prepares, manages and is accountable for Company’s Clinical Science and Medical Advisory Board budget; coordinates and schedules meetings

· Develops strategy and standards for clinical training (in coordination with training department) of end-users, field sales and field service personnel; establishes and maintains appropriate systems for measuring performance to standards

· Provide sales support (presentations/meetings) at CRO level in support of clinical trials business

· Provide sales support (presentations/meetings) at Sponsor level in support of clinical trials business

· Periodically reviews and assesses strength of clinical trials data and data management services (trending, reporting, quality assurance, data management etc).

· Produces/edits white papers (in conjunction with marketing requirements) on nSpire Specific Products from a clinical perspective.Manages and develops direct reporting staff of clinical scientistsDevelops new business opportunities within clinical trials space i.e., protocol development services; leveraging advisory board resourcesConducts physician surveys on current and new clinical practice guidelines

 Qualifications

Evidence of ability to perform essential duties described above.

 Education and/or Experience

Minimum requirement is Master's degree in a science/health related discipline, PhD is preferred; minimum four to ten years related experience and/or training in biomedical, medical device, clinical trial field; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 20% to 30% travel, domestic and international

 Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, including clinical protocols; ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format; ability to effectively present information to top management, public/professional groups, and/or board of directors.

 Mathematical Skills

Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts and permutations; ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis fundamental to the field of biostatistics.

 Reasoning Ability

Precise critical thinking skills with the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions and clinical data and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

 Other Competencies

Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills

Ability to work on teams and with multiple projects

Working knowledge of medical terminology

Excellent computer skills,  

Expert knowledge of GCP, ICH and FDA regulations
