Transportation Analyst
Delaware, DE Manufacturing/Production/Operations Job SummaryDescription: This position reports to the Distribution Skill Center Leader and is responsible for managing the strategic relationships with AstraZeneca’s transportation vendors and ensuring optimal performance of the transportation network. The position provides day-to-day logistics support to all business units, ensuring desired, cost-effective levels of customer service are maintained. This position will execute analyses and studies to drive continuous improvement in transportation management and AZ’s distribution capability. This position is responsible for working closely with the AZ and third party distribution centers to ensure that they have the tools needed to manage the tactical aspects of carrier operations (i.e. – routing guides, rate charts, contact list, etc). In addition, this role is responsible for monitoring the transportation costs for Domestic and International freight and validating the charges incurred against the US Bank charges. Major Responsibilities · Manage strategic relationship with carriers · Interface with carriers and internal and external customers to ensure that day-to-day transportation operations in support of manufacturing and distribution deliver the desired, cost-effective level of customer service · Execute transportation analyses and studies in support of logistics plans and operations and review existing processes and operations to drive continuous improvement. · Oversee the freight payment process (US Bank) and ensure accuracy of freight billing · Compile KPI’s in support of distribution analyses, studies, and negotiations · Monitor KPI trends and drive improvements within AstraZeneca’s transportation network, integrating with the Distribution Skill center to optimize the overall AZ distribution network · Manage AZ core carriers and ensure all documentation (standard of care, Insurance verification, etc) is updated · Manage carrier performance and drive resolution of business issues · Manage carrier claims and ensure that carriers are meeting their contractual obligations and servicing AZ’s customers as required · Optimize the transportation network (i.e.: service/mode/lane improvements) to meet the changing needs of AZ and its customers · Assist in formulating and implementing short and long-term logistics plans and operations for the business unit. · Partner with Purchasing in negotiating and initiating carrier contractual agreements.Responsibilities· Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Sales, Logistics, Management Science or other relevant discipline · Knowledge of mySAP and BI systems · Proficiency in basic computer skills required including hands-on working knowledge of MS Word, Documentum, and Excel. · Ability to integrate information technology as it supports/impacts business processes related to or affecting customer trade. · Good working knowledge of the processes and systems that reside across the supply chain · Demonstrated understanding of an internal/external customer base · Possess knowledge of customer ordering and inventory practices and fulfillment processes · Possess strong analytical skills and overall business acumen knowledge · Demonstrated strong interpersonal, communication and organizational negotiation skills · Evaluate/manage relationships with outside service partners. · Ability to effectively interact with all levels within AZ functional areas, AZ customers, and outside service providers. · Demonstrated attainment of Leadership Capabilities at target level 2 for Works Collaboratively, Drives Performance and Acts DecisivelyPreferred Background · Prior experience in an analytical role working with complex data sets · Experience managing a small team or other supervisory role · 3-5 years prior experience in the logistics area as well as in the distribution of products from a multi-plant/multi-distribution center environment. · Working knowledge of the logistics industry and the various government agencies and regulations involved with the distribution of products such as he FDA, USDA, DEA, DOT, DOL, FAA, and IATA. · Financial or budgeting experience would be beneficial.
