With a deep and broad pipeline of potential new medicines, we continue to advance science to serve patients.ROLE PURPOSE :* Lead and manage GDO Training initiatives* Recommend and contribute to process improvements* Lead and manage the development and maintenance of GDO training* Design and oversee delivery of quality training to GDO staff for control documents and processes* Collaborate with external partners and internal training counterparts to sustain an environment that supports Amgen valuesRESPONSIBLE FOR :* Ensuring GDO staff are adequately trained * Co-ordinating GDO training activities* Overseeing GDO Core and role-based curricula development* Ensuring a high level of service for internal customers and external partners* Facilitating GDO Training Council * Overseeing maintenance of GDO Training Matrix and catalog* Developing and overseeing maintenance of GDO Training metrics* Maintaining and improving global collaboration within functional area accountabilities* Advising GDO clients on trainingKEY ACTIVITIES :* Recruit, manage, and develop staff within the GDO Training group* Conduct performance assessments for assigned staff * Identify training needs of GDO staff and oversee the development of solutions* Co-ordinate training and mentoring activities for GDO staff* Work with GDO Training Manager and study management organization to develop and manage GDO roles role-based training curriculum* Facilitate Policy, SOP, Technical Manual and Therapeutic Area training to GDO staff* Ensure training meets GDO quality standard, deadlines, and is within budget* Analysis and identify gaps with in GDO training and make appropriate recommendations for resolution/revision* Provide expertise and GDO Training representation to support the development and revision of required training* Facilitate the GDO Training Council and ensure on time deliverables* Participate and support GDO TQ&S Director in R & D Standards & Education Center of Excellence* Collaborate with GDO TQ&S Director to ensure staff are adequately trained* Participate in applicable forums and industry sponsored organizations* Evaluate new technologies and systems and sponsor existing systems* Cultivate and build relationships with key internal customers and external partners* Interact with strategic partners as needed for execution of training activities* Support GDO continuous improvement and initiatives* Advise GDO clients on appropriate external training options and develop a repositoryThis role is based at our Thousand Oaks officeEDUCATION :BA, BS or BScEXPERIENCE :* 7 years work experience in life sciences or a medically related field, including 3 years of biopharmaceutical clinical product development (clinical research or clinical operations experience obtained at a biotech, pharmaceutical or CRO company)* Previous management experience of direct reportsKNOWLEDGE :* Detailed knowledge of SOPs, Good Clinical Practices and regulatory requirements* Detailed knowledge of the concepts of clinical research and drug development* Knowledge of relevant therapeutic/product areas preferred* Understanding of ethical issues associated with clinical research* Knowledge of operations within clinical development organizations* Strong understanding of principals of customer service as it applies to internal customers and external partners* Computer and system operation skillsCOMPETENCIES :* Team leadership* Project leadership* Decision making* Problem Solving* Ability to work effectively in a team/matrix environment on multiple projects* Able to influence project team members in a positive manner* Expert in the requirements and interpretation of the Clinical control documents* Relationship building* Innovative thinking* Organizational and planning skills* Delivery focus & results oriented* Organizational and planning skills* Conflict management skills* Excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability to present formally and informally within area of expertise to a diverse set of audiences Amgen is the leading human therapeutics company in the biotechnology industry.
