We also know that serving our clients and helping them and our people excel demands a diverse range of skills, talent, experiences and backgrounds.  Technology Strategy Managers inDeloitte's Technology Strategy practice offer both advisory and implementation services. We deliver complex engagements that provide insight and direction on how our clients can better align their IT strategies with their business strategies and transform the IT organization, processes and technologies through financial discipline and a business-focused perspective. This requires an in-depth understanding of the client's overall IT strategy and its alignment with business objectives. Managers lead engagement teams to provide this integrated set of advisory services to CxOs and IT Executive Management  Life Sciences Our Life Sciences Consulting Practice serves nearly all of the world's largest and most prestigious pharmaceutical, biotech, and medical device companies. We offer solutions to help clients address a wide range of issues affecting business growth for both established as well as early stage and emerging life sciences companies. From inception to initial public offering or global product launch, our professionals have comprehensive experience in: customer channel strategy, merger and acquisitions, clinical trials, supply chain optimization, investment prioritization, commercialization strategy, financial and performance management, R&D regulatory requirements, operations excellence, IT strategy, CRM and more.  Essential Functions:  Managers are expected to contribute to the firm's growth and development in a variety of ways, including: - Engagement Management: Mobilize and manage engagement teams from planning through execution; contribute to engagement planning and budgeting; define deliverable structure and content; manage engagement economics - Client Management: Manage day to day interactions with client executive management, sponsors, and working groups - Business Development: Develop and maintain key client contacts; participate and lead aspects of the proposal development process; contribute to client account planning; participate in sales calls - Practice Development & Eminence: Develop practical solutions and methodologies; develop "thoughtware" and "point-of-view" documents; develop and deliver training courses - People Development: Perform role of counselor and coach; provide input and guidance into the staffing process; participate in staff recruitment and retention activitiesTechnology Strategy Manager candidates are required to have: - 6+ years experience with 3+ years experience in IT strategy or IT management roles - Demonstrated prior experience in managing teams of 5+ resources through design, development, and/or operations of complex technology environments (programs, applications, systems and/or infrastructure) - Demonstrated prior experience in managing technology assessments and developing strategic recommendations - Ability to articulate leading business issues and trends, including the associated technology implications within one or more industries - Demonstrated experience in business process improvement, leveraging information and technology - Willingness to travel to client locations (80+%) - Bachelor's Degree or 4 years equivalent professional experience - Minimum 8 years consulting experience with at least 3 years serving Life Sciences clients  Qualified Manager candidates are also required to have at least one full lifecycle project experience in one or more of the following areas: - Technology Innovation - Leveraging emerging technologies (wireless, sensors, narrow-casting, video, RFID, smart displays, etc.) to create completely new business models and potentially disruptive strategies for revenue enhancement and cost efficiency - IT Strategy & Alignment - Delivering IT Strategies driven both from a top down analysis starting with an articulated business strategy and a bottom up technology capability analysis. Experiences include: IT/Business Alignment IT Transformation IT Organization/Operating Models IT Assessment/Due Diligence Improving Business Performance Developing Functional Strategies - Enterprise Architecture - Delivering both the blueprinting and capabilities required to effectively deliver IT capabilities within an organization. Experiences include: Enterprise Architecture Assessment Application & Infrastructure Consolidation Data Management Application/Technology Selection - IT Effectiveness - Assisting clients in formalizing the tools and processes needed to understand how IT resources and programs create shareholder (business) value, and how to improve IT resource allocation to maximize value. Experiences include: IT Performance Management IT Portfolio Management IT Sourcing/Outsourcing/Offshoring IT Cost Allocation/Chargeback IT Cost Reduction IT Talent and Resource Management IT Compliance/Risk Management Program Leadership/PMO IT Merger Integration In addition, successful Managers will also have the following preferred skills: - Understanding and experience with IT economics - including popular financial measures (such as CFROI, TCO etc) - Experience working in a relevant technical role, either with another consultancy, with a vendor or within an enterprise IT team - Experience with IT organization design and management principles/techniques (ITIL, ITSM), as well as IT management tools (e.g., Mercury, PlanView, ProSight, Niku) - Ability to work independently and manage multiple task assignments - Strong oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills (MS Visio, MS PowerPoint) and significant experience with executive-level communication - Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to exercise mature judgment - An advanced degree in the area of specialization Our practitioners work in integrated project teams on a range of projects covering the entire lifecycle from planning through to design, development and the deployment of solutions. These project teams will often include specialists from other technical disciplines from within the consulting practice and from our clients.
