Job Description Systems Analyst-Engineering Services Environmental Instruments Division Job Title: Systems Analyst – Engineering ServicesBusiness/Division: Environmental Instruments DivisionOffice Location: Franklin, MAReports to: Manager – Technical Services and Support Position Summary:This position reports to the Manager of Technical Services and Support in the Environmental Instruments Division of Thermo Fisher Scientific. This position will focus on supporting the engineering/product development groups with high quality IT services in the Radiation Measurement and Security, Air Quality and the Water Analysis business units. As such, some travel may be required (up to 25%). Key Duties and Responsibilities:· Work with technical teams in Engineering and Product Development to evaluate business processes and research ways to use technology to improve work processes; strive to leverage common processes and technologies.· Understand current processes and needs, anticipate future needs and make recommendations to improve processes and supporting technology wherever possible. Ensure maximum value is achieved from installed systems and tools.· Propose, support and/or manage projects in support of global and local initiatives.· Ensure appropriate services to the Engineering teams; manage services and support agreements from corporate service groups and external providers. Ensure IT services met or exceed established service level agreements. · Assist GIS resources with the administration and maintenance of local servers as required. Promote the adoption of relevant new technologies and services consistent with divisional and enterprise strategy. Qualifications (Education, Experience and Competencies): Undergraduate degree (industry related) required Experience in Engineering and/or Research & Development is required. Experience in a government contracting environment is desirable. Familiarity with Engineering and Product Development processes including software/hardware development, configuration management and defect tracking required Technical and/or industry certifications would be a plus (PMP, MSCE, etc.) Experience deploying commercial applications systems including ERP systems (Mapics, Avante and/or SAP), Engineering Drafting/Design products (such as SolidWorks, P-CAD and/or AutoCAD), Microsoft SharePoint and/or SalesForce.com. Experience with Windows Server 2003, ESX VM Servers, AD/NTFS Security, Disaster Recovery Planning and Network Topologies. 3-5 years of project management experience in a technical/engineering environment Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) as well as excellent listening and conflict management skills. Excellent organizational and time management skills as well as strong problem solving skills. Possess excellent customer service skills and be customer focused with appropriate sensitivity and sense of urgency for customer issues.
