Supply Planning Manager

POSITION SUMMARY

This individual is responsible for leading the Supply Planning function within the US Supply Chain organization with responsibilities for ensuring proper supply (inventory) requirements of finished goods in support of Smiths global product needs.  The department works directly with specific Smiths manufacturing sites and is responsible for the conversion of demand forecasts to supply plans / schedule requirements - balancing inventory and customer service objectives.  Position involved daily interaction with planners located in multiple geographic sites (including Mexico) as well as broad business involvement with key stakeholders at all levels including Director / VP in: Marketing, Product Development, Operations, Customer Service, QA / RA. Work closely with International planning organization to help develop an effective Global Supply Planning team.  Maintains and publishes key metrics such as: Backorder Report, Inventory Report and others as identified.  As part of the Supply Chain Team, the incumbent contributes to the overall strategic direction of this group.

 

This position will require 25% travel.

 

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree and 6+ years work experience in similar field within the medical device industry.  3+ years of work experience as a manager within a supply chain.  Demonstrated performance in ERP planning, supplier and project management required.  Global requirements planning experience required.

 

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS

·  Strong knowledge of ERP planning systems / process in a complex supply chain environment.

·  Strength in inventory management and systems.

·  Thorough knowledge of manufacturing information systems and medical device manufacturing processes, products, equipment and procedures.

·  Established knowledge of FDA and ISO requirements and their application in the manufacturing environment.

·  Proven ability to lead and manage multiple projects of significant scope simultaneously.

·  Human Resources management skills to effectively manage the selection, training and development, appraisal, and feedback of employees.

·  Financial knowledge and skill to perform financial analysis.

·  Strategic and operational planning experience and skill.

·  Demonstrated effective communications skills, both verbal and written with organizations outside of the US.

·  Strong interpersonal skills.

·  Proven ability to work collaboratively with individuals and in cross-functional teams located in separate geographic regions.

·  Ability to handle and work under stressful situations.
