Supply Chain Manager--Bio-chemical
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Bio-chemical Supply Chain Manager is responsible for bio-chemical materials management activities in support of the development and production of Theranos products. As part of a start-up organization, this position includes strategic supplier relationships and contract negotiations at the executive level to tactical purchasing and negotiating antibodies, conjugates, reagents, equipment, and supplies. Creates requests-for-quotes, evaluates suppliers’ responses, and recommends supplier selection based on short and long term goals. Supplier management includes bio-chemical contract manufactures.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES Initiates purchase orders and amendments for biochemicals, services, and/or special chemistry tools; arranges for submission and inspection of sample products as required; close coordination with engineering to assure timely execution of product and services sourcing activities. Secures and analyzes quotations; negotiates prices and terms with suppliers; and recommends suppliers with respect to cost, quality, and delivery competitiveness for assigned responsibilities. Writes and negotiate contracts to provide the best terms and assurance of supply of critical wet chemistries.Studies market prices, competitive analysis, trends, engineering developments and manufacturing method improvements. Accesses current and prospective suppliers to ensure supply, transportation logistics inventory control and management, and negotiates prices and delivery termsCoordinates the planning of recent schedules and inventory control parameters for the assigned products and services. Coordinates as appropriate, quality matters and engineering changes/developments between company activities and suppliers. Visits suppliers' facilities to qualify them as new sources and assists in the resolution of production, design, quality, and/or delivery problems.
· Manages the planning, procurement and utilization all biochemical materials used by Theranos.
· Manages contract manufacturers including planning and executing development builds, while ensuring material availability, and optimizing build costs, timeliness, quality, and inventory exposure.
· Develops inventory control practices at Theranos and our contract manufacturing partners. Institutes reporting and metrics practices to ensure all such inventory is visible to management, properly accounted for, and available as required to meet schedules.
· Understands the Theranos Product Roadmap and develops a new product materials support strategy which ensures that the material and local contract manufacturing supply base are capable of meeting new product development requirements.
· Works with Theranos Engineering to ensure Bills of Materials (BOMs) and Authorized Vendor Lists (AVLs) are timely, accurate, and communicated effectively in support of new product development builds.
BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. May lead and direct the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/departmentBachelor’s degree preferred with emphasis in business administration, biology, or bio-engineering with 3+ years of progressively responsible purchasing and materials control experience in a biomedical companyPersonal computer skills, as relates to procurement, related software, and knowledge of purchasing/accounting processes required. Must have excellent verbal and written communications skill set.Biomedical industry experience required. QAD experience preferred. Knowledge of CFR 49 Part 171 to 180 and the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations for the transport of dangerous goods under 173.4, 2.7, Limited Quantity and Dry Ice by air.
