The ideal candidate will have five or more years’ strategic purchasing experience in the biosciences or chemicals industries with a science-related bachelor’s degree. Success in this role requires initiative, leadership, strong interpersonal team skills, positively working in a matrix environment, organization, a high level of excellence and efficiency as well as excellent negotiation abilities.This key role is responsible for the development and implementation of a harmonized supplier evaluation program that includes supplier: qualification, evaluation, risk assessment and auditing. In addition, responsibilities include supplier identification, qualification and purchase price establishment for essential direct and/or indirect materials/goods and services to support customer orders and operations while optimizing inventory investment. The successful candidate will use SAP analyzing forecast demands and requisitions soliciting RFQs in the assigned spend category (Chemicals, Packaging, MRO or Biosciences). Responsibility for ensuring that quality and service oriented suppliers are selected and identifying cost effective methods regarding freight terms, including transport and handling for imported products is important in this role. The successful candidate will also be responsible for entering purchasing information records, sourcing agreements for all established contractual suppliers; follow up with operational buyer with any further maintenance required and for purchasing approval of any new product introductions. In line with the established corporate supplier qualification program, the successful candidate will manage supplier relationships, especially for those suppliers providing unique, proprietary and critical materials or services. Other duties will include conducting supplier evaluations and audits, collecting performance information and quality surveys, ranking and making decisions critical to supply chain management. 25% travel.
