Sategic Buyer Emeryville - US FinanceJob Description:To maintain a strategic sourcing process for all goods and services defined as "locally sourced" and to support implementation of regional and global sourcing initiatives. Major Activities (Describe the main duties of the job to be achieved) · Develop, implement and maintain the best possible, local sourcing strategy for all goods and services defined as locally sourced ·Build, document and continuously update/maintain local market and product knowledge·Negotiate/re-negotiate national and local contracts for complex materials and services ·Conduct competitive bid processes and develop vendor recommendations based on analysis of data ·Review commercial terms and recommend action ·Qualify and select appropriate local suppliers ·Negotiate, conclude and maintain local supply agreements ·Support the implementation of regional and global sourcing initiatives including management of local compliance ·Contribute to reporting to track savings and compliance ·Implement a continuous improvement cycle to realize year on year incremental improvements and cost savings ·Build a network with local users to maximize the benefits of local, regional and global supply agreements ·Perform other duties as required Key Performance Indicators (Indicate how performance for this job will be measured) Cost savings target Process improvements Job Dimensions (Indicate key facts and figures) Financial responsibility: (Budget, Cost, Sales, etc.) Purchasing volume: $50MM Impact on the organization:High, important to achieve cost efficient organization Education (minimum/desirable): BA/BS required Languages:Fluent in English, second language preferred but not required Experience/Professional requirement: 2 years in similar position, overall 8-10 years procurement experience, preferably in the biotech or similar environment Specific Professional Competencies (professional knowledge and skills requirements) Communication Skills - respond effectively to business partner needs and requests in timely manner Project management - organizational skills to coordinate and implement projects Business Understanding - Understands business requirements and needs of management Time Management - ability to handle multiple projects concurrently Vendor Management and Negotiation SkillsNovartis Vaccines & Diagnotics is a new division of Novartis consisting of two businesses focusing on the development of preventive treatments and tools.
