Staff Engineer, R & D - (Job Number: 0809095) DescriptionAdvanced Sterilization Products Division of Ethicon, Inc., a member of Johnson && Johnson's Family of Companies, is currently recruiting for a Staff Engineer, R&&D located in Irvine, CA. Advanced Sterilization Products (ASP) Division of Ethicon, Inc. is a leading innovator of technologies in the areas of sterilization, high-level disinfection, cleaning of medical devices, and hand hygiene. ASP markets STERRAD® Systems, the CIDEX® Family of Products, and PREVACARE® Antimicrobial Hand Gel. The company is focused on hospitals and surgery centers. The Staff Engineer, R&&D will apply intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and fields. This individual will make decisions independently on engineering issues and use advanced techniques and the modification of practices in his/her field and related sciences and disciplines. This individual will serve as a key consultant on a technical specialty, a type of equipment or facility, or a program function and identify and troubleshoot important equipment issues. Reviews, approves, and executes Installation, Operational, and Performance Qualifications for various equipment and systems. This individual will write, review, and approves documentation and design components and subsystems using solid modeling programs such as Ideas and/or Solidworks and drafting/dimensioning methods such as GD&&T. This individual will provide process excellence consulting where appropriate opportunities lie. In a supervisory capacity this individual will plan, develop, coordinate, and direct a large engineering project or a number of small projects with many complex features. This individual will develop solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity and work with little or no supervision. This individual will exercise considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignment and completed work is reviewed from a relatively long term perspective, for desired results. A BS in Engineering degree with a minimum of 5 years related engineering experience is required. Experience in an FDA regulated environment is strongly desired. An MS degree in Engineering is preferred. Knowledge of ISO and cGMP regulations is required. Strong knowledge of and training in Quality Sytems Regulations (QSR) is required. Strong project management and influencing skills are required. A certification in Process Excellence (Green Belt or Black Belt) is desired. Strong analytical and communications skills are critical. Previous supervisory experience preferred. Experience with CAD SolidWorks is required. Previous experience with injection molding, blow molding, rotational molding, and transfer molding is preferred. This position will be located in Irvine California and will require 5 to 10 percent travel both internationally and domestically.
