Sr. Scientist/ Scientist- Biochemistry

We are seeking a protein biochemist to participate in our antigen discovery program and help advance development of our pre-clinical vaccine antigens.  The ideal candidate will contribute to our protein discovery efforts using a proprietary antigen screening platform and establish protein production and purification methods on select vaccine candidates.  Experience with recombinant protein expression using E. coli, insect and mammalian systems is required.  Protein purification experience using affinity and conventional (IEX, HIC, SEC) methods is also a must.  Experience in protein analytical assay development including HPLC (RP and SEC) methodologies is desirable. 

Responsibilities for this position include: Generation of protein expression constructs for bacterial and eukaryotic expression systems Purification of protein antigens for in vitro screens and animal immunogenicity studies Development of protein characterization and purity assays Establishment of protein purification methods for both research and development needs Presentation of data and findings internally and to outside collaborators

Required Skills: Must work well within a dynamic and team-oriented start-up environment Proficiency in molecular biology and protein biochemistry Expertise in DNA cloning, protein expression systems and purification methods Experience using protein quality control assays Excellent communication and leadership skills

Education & Experience: Applicants should have a PhD or MD/PhD in biochemisty or similar discipline 2-4 years of independent research in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry preferred
