Sr Scientist Analytical Chemistry
Delaware, DE Biotech/R&D/Science Job SummaryThe incumbent is an experienced scientist who contributes to analytical product or technology development programs within a pharmaceutical development setting. He/she directs the analytical aspects of technical projects in a collaborative way with cross-functional development groups to progress the clinical and commercial development of new chemical entities and drug product life cycle programs. He/she is responsible for developing and validating the appropriate analytical methodology to be used in the evaluation of quality and safety attributes of drug substance/drug product for clinical and commercial use.Major Responsibilities: -Independently develops and validates methodology or techniques, in accordance with regulatory guidelines, for the analysis of drug substances and products to ensure the quality and safety of the clinical or commercial product -Directs analytical technical projects with broad scopes working collaboratively with other drug development functions -Responsible for determining the reliability of all release and stability data used to ensure the quality and safety of the clinical product; determines the reliability of the development stability data to ensure the quality and safety of the commercial product -Responsible for procurement, implementation, theoretical expertise and support for complex to state-of-the-art instrumentation -Independently designs complex experiments, analyzes their own and others’ data to draw logical conclusions and effectively communicates results/conclusions to the larger development organization -Applies strong technical problem-solving skills for complex problems to enable the development of new products or in support of commercial manufacturing -Independently writes analytical methods, technical reports and regulatory documents to a high standard -Possesses solid people/project management skills to provide first line supervision to Technicians/Scientists -Mentors junior members of staff -Understands the drug development process -Possesses a thorough understanding of GMP principles and work is compliant to SOPs -Independently liaisons with external contract laboratories; coordinating work assignments, forecasting and monitoring budgetsResponsibilitiesThe Senior Scientist position requires a PhD in analytical or organic chemistry. We would prefer an individual with 2 or more years of pharmaceutical or drug development experience (but will consider a very strong recent PhD graduate). Solid analytical or organic chemistry skills are required. A demonstrated mastery of basic computer applications and a good working knowledge of statistical applications are also required.
