Our Research and Development team has significant experience in metabolic diseases and is focused on investigating the biological actions and utilities of bioactive peptides and other compounds as potential drug candidates. Currently, we have a great opportunity for a highly motivated professional to conduct pre-clinical pharmacology research in a drug discovery setting focused on diabetes, obesity and metabolic diseases and work as part of a multifunctional team to assist in the conception, development, validation, and implementation of experimental studies.

Specifically, you will:

• Design and implement experimental procedures to be followed as part of department’s overall research plan
• Conduct studies in small animal (rodent) models, isolated tissues and cells examining glucose homeostasis, diabetes and metabolism
• Be responsible for handling and basic procedures and surgical procedures on rodents
• Set up, perform, and trouble shoot biochemical assays
• Maintain accurate and complete laboratory notebooks
• Summarize and analyze data using computer data analysis, spreadsheet and graphics programs
• Prepare written and oral technical reports
• Perform all responsibilities in accordance with appropriate safety procedures and animal care requirements

REQUIREMENTS:

• A BS/BS biological sciences discipline with 8 years of laboratory research experience; or a Master’s degree in a scientific discipline with 6 years of research experience; or a Ph.D. in a scientific discipline with 2 years of research experience
• Experience handling and dosing small animals, basic biochemical techniques and use of computer for data summary
• Hands-on experience using animal models
• Experience performing molecular, biochemical, immunohistochemical, and metabolic analyses of cells and tissues
• Knowledge and research experience in diabetes and obesity
• Excellent organizational and written/verbal communication skills
