Sr Payroll Support Specialist

Major Responsibilities

· Supervision and development of 3 direct reports. Train new payroll operations staff

· Ensure payroll is executed within appropriate SOX controls at all times.

· Promote and work in a team environment.

· Ensure pay processing timeliness and instructions are met.

· Oversee and ensure payroll support staff responsibilities are accomplished timely and according to 

Payroll Operations procedures.

· Drive /  improve efficiencies and update documentation on Operations procedures.



Other Responsibilities

· Develop methods and regularly audit employee data to verify the accuracy and integrity of system data initiate corrections as needed and identify process/procedure changes to minimize or eliminate data inconsistencies.

· Ensure all federal, state and local compliance issues are met.  Identify, research, and recommend new processes or changes to current policies/procedures to ensure compliance.

· Analyze and resolve any discrepancies identified between tax location and tax distribution.  Work with Application Support to identify and resolve system problems.

· Create and transmit direct deposit and positive pay  files to bank.

· Reconcile direct deposit returns.

· Process reversal/adjustments or manual tax adjustments as needed.

· Administer deceased employee pay processing in accordance with tax regulations.

· Handle all Retirement and Savings deduction issues.

· Process all Supplemental Retirement Allocations

· Administer State Tax Equalization program.

· Handle all Compensation and Executive Compensation requests.

· Prepare off-cycle calendars.

· Effectively interpret employee pay earnings and tax records to ensure accurate processing of all W-2 information.  Review, analyze and complete W-2 corrections as requested.

· Participate in year-end processing for the accurate preparation of W-2 information.

· Review manual tax adjustments on a monthly basis performed by all users.  Submit to Operations Manager for review.

· Assist Operations Manager with the creation of payroll processing calendars for all paygroups into PeopleSoft annually.

· Assist Operations and Payroll Services Manager with recording various imputed income data.

· Collaborate with Operations Manager to manage/lead year-end schedule to ensure effective and completion of all year-end related duties.

· Collaborate with Tax/GL area to investigate and resolve any tax issues reported by agencies.

·Work with Applications Support to establish new deduction and earnings ca

tegories.  Assist in Application Support projects as requested.

· Collaborate effectively with HR, Benefits, Compensation and IT to ensure timely receipt of all external payroll source documents according to established deadlines and schedules.  Evaluate documents for appropriate action and perform function to initiate accurate payments to employees.  Understanding of HR Policies is needed.

· Work with HR to ensure timely and accurate payment of all wages to terminated employees based on state laws.

· Work with the HR Call Center staff to assist in the timely and accurate resolution of employee inquires.  Respond and resolve employee issues in a timely fashion.

· Collaborate with all HR Partners to clarify or educate on payroll practices.

· Work effectively with Executive Compensation and vendor on evaluation and recording of imputed income of exercised stock options.

· Effectively collaborate with Tax Dept., Compensation and HR to properly develop and administer Special Pay Programs.

· Provide payroll support to Expatriate Services and Deloitte for proper and accurate administration of Inpatriate/Expatriate employee population

· Partner with third party insurers to administer worker s compensation payments must be knowledgeable of state workers compensation laws.

· Participate in new-hire orientation

· Maintain updated payroll/tax information on website and assist with self-service site applications

· Stay abreast of current changes in FLSA and Wage and Hour Laws

· Provide assistance with special projects



· Plan and coordinate special events such as Open House and National Payroll Week
