Sr. Manufacturing Manager
Position Objective The Senior Manufacturing Manager will be responsible for overseeing all manufacturing personnel including Manufacturing Technicians, Supervisors, and Process Engineers in the day-to-day manufacturing of powder and liquid media for cell culture applications. Ensures highly regulated manufacturing processes are carried out in accordance with cGMP, CFR, and ISO standards. This position is responsible for meeting all manufacturing departmental goals including Safety, Quality, Production to Schedule and Manufacturing Costs. Essential FunctionsLead manufacturing team to meet or exceed operational goals in quality, cost, productivity, safety, inventory, and compliance.Effectively utilize fixed assets by maximizing operational efficiency. Integrate new equipment and processes to reduce cost, improve product quality, and to lead manufacturing operations to meet the demands of significant growth.Improve product quality using ISO 9001/13485/14000 and cGMP standards Support EHS standards as part of VPP plant standards Manage customer relations by co-hosting frequent customer visits to the manufacturing facility.Support improvements in inventory control and lean supply chain.Participate in regular capacity and strategic reviews to ensure supply chain integrity, and optimal business model support.Co-ordinate new product introductions and drive design for manufacturability of products.Interface with Planning Team to ensure that an updated capacity model is used for production planning. Interface with the Finished Product Test Lab to ensure product is acceptable prior to release to distribution.Drive Six-Sigma & Lean initiatives to maximize employee contribution and drive improvements in product quality and process efficiently.Mentor staff to elevate overall performance and achieve departmental goals and objectives. Promote a working environment that encourages employee involvement to achieve operational excellence.May be required to perform other related duties as required and/or assigned.Nature and Scope Works on complex problems in which analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors. Exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Ensures budgets, schedules, and performance requirements are met. Erroneous decisions will result in critical delay(s) in schedules and/or unit operations and may jeopardize overall business activities. Regularly interacts with senior management or executive-levels on matters concerning several functional areas, divisions, and/or customers. Requires the ability to change the thinking of or gain acceptance of others in sensitive situations. Education:Requires a bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or similar engineering. MBA preferred.Experience:Minimum of 8 years of experience in manufacturing environment performing engineering and production functions, with at least four years of management experience/direct supervision of staff. Ability to work with individuals at all levels and functions of the organization to motivate for results. Strong analytical ability including the ability to anticipate the impact of process changes and minimize disruption to the supply chain. Ability to respond to a very dynamic customer demand in a growing market where Quality, Customer Responsiveness and Costs are critical to maintain status in the market. Practical application experience of Six Sigma.Lean Manufacturing experience.Strong leadership abilities with capability to leverage diverse resources, respond quickly, understand impact of changes and decisions, facilitate agreement, build collaborative relationships and understand customers needs. Demonstrated ability to execute the strategic vision.Experience with cGMP or similar operations desired.Black Belt Certification desired.Contacts:Has contact with all levels of company employees as well as frequent interaction with customers. Working Conditions:Works in a production environment. Is required to lift up to 40 lbs. May be required to stand for long periods of time while performing duties. Must be able to work safely with chemicals and hazardous materials. Must be able to work flexible hours to accomplish assigned tasks. Â Â Â Â Â
