This organization processes approximately 40,000 samples per month and is responsible for an inventory of over one million samples. Ensure deliverables on time with exceptional attention to quality. Lead a team of 10-16, responsible for the following tasks: receiving incoming shipments of biological samples, verifying the quality and integrity of the samples and their associated information, preparing sample sets for analysis, and shipping of samples to internal and external laboratories. Develop improved methods for organizing the physical handling, inventorying, and storage of samples. Collaborate with internal partners to improve the efficiency, quality, and predictability of production processes. Support the successful transition of GBSM production operations to a new data system. Collaborate with the GBSM training and compliance group to fully document all internal processes and to develop training materials for production staff and their customers. Develop and utilize metrics to measure work status, productivity and quality. Develop a data-driven organization, that understands the bigger picture, and that understands the underlying reasons for both standard and exception-based processes and guidelines. Instill good work practices in production staff. Work with GBSM specialists to improve the standardization and predictability of incoming sample information quality and volume. Define, develop, and implement a structured career progression plan for production staff. Hire and train new staff members, while improving the capabilities of all staff members. Represent GBSM production operations at GBSM staff meetings and in collaborations with external business partners.Minimum 5 years management experience. Experience managing laboratory or other operation handling biological materials. Compliance-related background, with experience in ensuring chain of custody and quality of information in a validated environment.
