Sr. Facilities Technician

We are currently looking for an experienced professional to join our Facilities team. Responsibilities include

· assuring optimum operation of all building utility systems and support equipment;

· interfacing with maintenance staff and building occupants, helping/assisting in developing preventative maintenance plans, and managing custodial operations;

· maintaining a good working knowledge of basic building maintenance and construction concepts;

o performing daily inspections of equipment and support services, executing preventive maintenance and general work requests;

o working with outside vendors and service providers on major repairs;

o maintaining a working knowledge of electricity and controls;

o having a familiarity with deviation, corrective actions and resolution processes;

o becoming a subject matter expert on utility systems or process systems that support office and laboratory environment;

· collaborating with internal XenoPort departments to achieve maintenance deliverables as they relate to a laboratory environment;

o managing the timely documentation and completion of scheduled and unscheduled maintenance work requests for building to which you are assigned;

o coordinating and managing accelerations, extensions or deviations of maintenance activities;

o scheduling and managing major preventive maintenance shutdown projects and activities, with others in the Department;

· assuring a safe and operable facility;

· participating as needed in new/replacement/upgrades of equipment, such as

o acting as technical consultant to internal/external customers;

o interacting with user groups to implement standards or solutions;

o qualifying and outsourcing specialized services;

o supervising internal mechanics;

o being involved in planning, design, and implementation of a small size capitol project related to Lab/Office modifications. 

 

Qualifications and Other Required Knowledge and Skills:

 

Completion of a BS degree in either an Electrical or Mechanical discipline or equivalent experience.  Must complete ASME certification for least one major plant utility system. (boilers, chillers, HVAC, etc)  At least 7 years or more of experience in a life science maintenance program.  Qualifications include technical knowledge of building systems, refrigeration, boilers, water systems. Experience with laboratory autoclaves, cage and bottle washers, and fume and biohazard hoods. Familiarity with lock out/tag out procedures. Ability to interpret blueprints, technical manuals and specifications.  Must possess strong leadership, customer service, and interpersonal skills. Good written and verbal communication skills, team player, self-starter.  Excellent computer skills used for managing equipment maintenance and inter-department collaborations (i.e. MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook)
