Sr. Embedded Systems Engineer

Primary FunctionDesigns, develops, troubleshoots and debugs embedded firmware programs, PC-based test software and electronic circuits for new or existing precision electronic liquid handling products. Determines hardware requirements and compatibility working closely with design team. May be called on to drive hardware subsystem designs in limited cases. Works with limited supervision from functional manager or department manager.

· Strong verbal and written communication skills.

· Depth in engineering principles in analog and digital electronics design, including control theory, analog data acquisition, sensor integration, power management and stepper controls.

· Demonstrated strength in C++ and Assembly language.

· Working knowledge of:

· VB, VB.NET or C#.

· Real-time embedded systems

· Embedded 16-32 bit controllers & architectures

· MSP430 and ARM7/9 families a plus

· UI development for LCD displays in embedded systems

· Hands-on experience with designing USB and serial communication

· Integration, debugging and troubleshooting board-level issues for electro-mechanical systems, including motor controls, designed for moderate volume production.

· Sub-system level project management in software/firmware product development environments.

· Documentation of production-released firmware programs and electronic circuit designs.

 

Education & Experience

· Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Computer Science or similar program required. Master of Science a plus.

· Minimum of B.S. and 7 years experience (5 years w/ M.S.) in a medium to high volume manufacturing environment.

· Experience in ISO-certified design and manufacturing environment a plus.
