Sr. Business Analyst/Project Manager

MEDTOX Laboratories, located in St. Paul, is a drug testing and esoteric clinical laboratory with a focus on technology, quality and service to our clients. Established in 1983, MEDTOX is now the nation's third largest SAMHSA-certified drug testing laboratory. We are seeking a Sr. Business Analyst/Project Manager interested in contributing to our rapidly growing organization.

 

The Sr. Business Analyst/Project Manager will support Medtox business functions by implementing technology solutions.  Analyze business process work flows, define business requirements, write technical specifications to deliver new and improve existing application systems, create project plans, and manage projects as appropriate.

 

SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:Partner with business unit staff and the external clients and vendors to understand current work flows, processes and business needs, to identify the improvement opportunities and challenges, and understand business requirements as they relate to data elements, relationship of data, processes and reporting information. In collaboration with business management, write detailed business requirements ensuring the needs of the business, the clients, and the vendors are met. Prepare information to make a “build or buyâ€� recommendation for certain technical solutions, including researching available vendor software packages, matching functional capabilities against the business requirements, and the cross application system integration requirements. Work with IT Managers and Developers to design the overall technical solution, including database needs, business component structure, user interface, Web Services, reports, integration needs etc., to ensure that the application system is efficient, logical, complete, reusable and fully conforms to all applicable standards and regulations. Document the technical specifications for all solutions that will be developed in-house.  These technical specifications will to be used by the IT development team. Create project plans that help ensure that the project team meets dates/milestones; communicate the status of the project to business and IT leadership teams. Serve as the project manager for selected technology projects.  This role is critical in the overall success of any technical project. Create a comprehensive User Acceptance Plan and test the application system’s operation and business functionality against the plan in order to ensure that the application system functions correctly before delivery to production. In coordination with Developers, identify issues with application systems and correct errors once the system is in production.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or Computer Science or other relevant discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience. Graduate level degree preferred, but not required. A minimum of five years of relevant IT experience. Experience with project/team management. Experience in efficiently/effectively researching, selecting and implementing technology solutions, and creating project plans as well as manage projects. Able to carefully and comprehensively analyze processes in transaction-based business; clearly define business needs; accurately determine how technology can best support business needs and translate into clear “requirements,â€� Communicate effectively with the technical staff involved in analysis, development and implementation.  Excellent relationship building and client partnering skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work with team members at all levels Enthusiasm for a constantly changing and fast-paced business environment. Able to work independently, support several projects simultaneously and prioritize effectively. Proficient in Microsoft software applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Project, PowerPoint)
