With a deep and broad pipeline of potential new medicines, we continue to advance science to serve patients.Amgen is currently seeking a Sr. Associate Scientist to join our Neuroscience team in south San Francisco, CA with a strong background in rodent CNS behavioral models and in vivo pharmacology.The successful candidate will:• Work as part of team engaged in the development and implementation of a broad array of in vivo assays for the validation of novel drug discovery targets in the areas of cognition and neurodegeneration. • Plan and perform basic in vivo neurochemical, behavioral, and/or rodent surgeries, analyze and organize data, interpret and communicate results in verbal and written formats, and participate in laboratory meetings. • Establish appropriate cognition and neurodegeneration in vivo behavioral assays to support drug discovery programs.• Be responsible for the design, initiation, monitoring, and reporting of in vivo behavioral assays to support drug discovery efforts and elucidate the desired/undesired pharmacology• Conduct scientific literature searches and maintain accurate documentation of experiments. In addition, the candidate will possess good leadership skills, work well in a team, will be objective-driven, and understand the importance of project timelines.Basic Qualifications:- This role requires a B.S. or M.S. in neuroscience, neuropharmacology or other field, and 2+ years of experience. Preferred Qualifications:- Must possess strong communication skills, the ability to multitask and work in a flexible team environment.- Must demonstrate the ability to work independently and demonstrate technical proficiency, problem solving and experimental troubleshooting. - Experience with behavioral pharmacology, rodent surgery, microdialysis, or HPLC are preferred.
