Specialty Sales Representative: Manhattan North & Bronx Promote and develop sales of Talecris Biotherapeutic's product line. Customers will include specialty physicians & healthcare professionals, hospitals, home healthcare, patient treatment centers and patient support groups. As a Specialty Sales Representative, the incumbent reflects an accomplished aptitude in sales, product knowledge, and ability to demonstrate a high level of competencies. This requires the establishment and acceptance of Talecris products with physicians and healthcare professionals within these institutions. The Specialty Sales Rep is required to maintain frequent and thorough communication with the Regional Sales Manager and the home office regarding new developments, competitive activities, problems and success related to Talecris' business. Perform special assignments, special projects and attend sales training, medical and association meetings as assigned. Control expenses within a defined budget; maintain and protect company property. Responsible for formulating and implementing a Territory Business Plan. Will develop and maintain relationships with Key Opinion Leaders and Thought Leaders. Specialty Sales Rep must quickly learn the plasma & emerging businesses and the science supporting those businesses, work within constraints of supply and demand, and be proactive in identifying problems & suggesting & implementing solutions. The Specialty Sales Rep should be able to respond and sell within a competitive landscape. Specialty Sales Representatives are assigned specific accounts that represent the top academic/teaching and government/municipal hospitals, clinics, and patient treatment centers. They are also required to prospect for potential new business independently. Must appreciate the range, scope and potential of the Talecris Business and its uniqueness compared to the pharmaceutical industry. Requirements:Position requires a BS/BA degree preferably in a life science discipline with 6-8 years biological or pharmaceutical sales experience or MS/MA degree with 2-4 years biological or pharmaceutical sales experience. Applicants without the biological or pharmaceutical sales experience will not be considered. Healthcare/Life Science and/or business/marketing degree is a plus. Prior experience would be preferred in the institutional/hospital market setting. Must be a self-starter capable of organizing time between many unexpected circumstances involved in day-to-day selling situations. Should have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Should have demonstrated proficiency in Word, Excel, Power Point and be able to perform market analysis presentations. Should be able to effectively utilize a lap top computer on a daily basis for planning, call activity and other territory needs. Overnight travel required. Weekend or evening work may be required.
