Job Description Sheet Metal Worker This position will be responsible for shearing, bending, drilling, machining and punching sheet metal and parts according to production needs.* Perform responsibilities in compliance with Environmental Protection Agency, International Standards Organization and Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations. * Determine machining procedures according to blueprints, sketches, part lists and written directions. * Perform machine set-up accordingly. * Pull sheet metal required to manufacture parts. * Shear sheet metal to specified specifications. * Layout sheet metal pieces. * Operate sheet metal equipment including band saws, drill presses, hand tools, hole cutters, notchers, punch presses, rollers and strippit punches to fabricate metal pieces to specifications. * Deburr, spot weld and polish metal parts as required. * Adapt machining procedures to improve production efficiency and sheet metal parts quality. * Assist the production manager and engineering department in all phases of manufacturing, planning and estimating. Communicate drawing improvements/changes to production manager. * Submit purchase requisitions for materials and supplies in a timely manner. * Perform preventative maintenance on sheet metal equipment, punches and dies. * Assist in equipment repair. * Operate lathe/milling machine and general machine shop equipment. * Stock sheet metal and other materials on storage shelves. * Installation of equipment may be required. * Perform housekeeping of fabrication department.QUALIFICATIONS:Education: * High school diploma or GED. * Basic math skills. * Basic computer skills * Machine shop courses at vocational/technical school.Experience: * Minimum three years sheet metal experience. * Basic machine shop experience. * CNC equipment experience a plus Physical Requirements: * Ability to operate a forklift. * Ability to lift 100 pounds. * Ability to stand for an 8 hour shift.Traits: * Mechanical aptitude. * Attentive to details required to manufacture quality sheet metal parts. * Ability to comprehend and follow written directions, blueprints, sketches and part lists. * Ability to work independently and as part of a team. * Safety conscious as position requires operating heavy machinery.Education: High School/GEDJob Level: Entry Level
