Senior Unix Systems Engineer

The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of UNIX systems management, operation & security within Almac, primarily supporting Information Management within Almac Diagnostics. The successful candidate will work with the IS infrastructure team to support a diverse environment of hardware, Unix operating systems, applications, and data resources. • College Degree in Computer Science or related discipline. • Must have significant relevant experience in a similar role, delivering infrastructure and system administration tasks on projects and will have significant exposure to RedHat and HP/UX operating systems as a systems administrator • Relevant experience in utilizing scripting to automate repetitive tasks or enhance productivity using Perl and/or shell scripts and utilities for Red Hat and HP/UX.• A formal certification in either RedHat Linux or HP/UX operating systems and/or usage of the above in a scientific environment is desirable as is knowledge of working in a regulated environment.• Excellent documentation and communication skills (both verbal and written) are also essential attributes for this position.• Ability to work on own initiative with minimal supervision & timescales • Ability to work individually or as part of a team • Willing to accept responsibility and work on own initiative • Ability to work flexible hours as tasks/timelines demand.
