Senior Staff Accountant
Senior Staff Accountant – General Ledger
Function of the Position:
The Sr. Staff Accountant – General Ledger is a professional level position who will process and provide timely and accurate information to internal and external stakeholders while participating in the monthly financial process through preparation of journal entries, account analysis, and reconciliations. In this key position, the Sr. Staff Accountant will be the primary person involved with the development of all Oracle financial reporting ensuring all reporting is developed and maintained that is consistent with company reporting initiatives. This includes all sub-reporting systems (timekeeping) being aligned with overall general ledger reporting. Training of USP non-accounting staff may be encompassed to ensure proper recording and account coding is in place. Excellent knowledge of US GAAP and accounting principles are required as well as a keen eye towards improving process and workflow efficiencies.
Job Duties:Reconcile balance sheet accounts as neededReview Financial Statements and performing variance analysis: prepares journal entries for input and for recording proper accruals, reclasses, and corrects; prepares monthly financial statements for review by financial and departmental managers Financial Accounting Systems: Work with Oracle accounting systems to become familiar and knowledgeable in all facets of operations and report developmentWork with Finance and Accounting Management and IT to develop improved and more timely financial reporting systems, including reflecting all internal reporting in FAS 116 basis. Ensure all new reporting initiatives are properly reflected through reporting, timekeeping, and training of personnel.Assists in audit coordination including preparation of audit work papers and supporting documentation. Ensures compliance with generally accepted accounting principles. Prepares special analyses upon request. Other duties as required and needed.
Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.Must have 5 plus years of accounting experience.Strong communications and process management skills.Experience with Oracle ERP financial systems highly preferred.Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.CPA or CPA seeking preferred.
