Senior Scientist - minimum 6 yrs in R and D - medical devices co. (contract position)

Kelly Scientific is seeking a talented individual to take on the role and responsibility of Senior Scientist for a Hayward based medical device company. This is a great chance to work in Product Research and Development with a great company.PURPOSE: Participates as a team member in programs related to research and/or develop products. Facilitates the timely introduction of quality diagnostic products. May supervise, plan, coordinate and drive R&D projects. RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Conducts, directs and troubleshoots potentially highly complex technical experiments to achieve department and company goals by analyzing and interpreting experimental data. 2. Executes experiments during the characterization and optimization of reagents.3. Provides appropriate written documentation in company-standard formats to support experimental strategies, new ideas, procedures, experimental results and program findings.4. Participates in company-wide activities such as corrective action teams and quality programs.5. Provides technical expertise in specific scientific areas. Maintains proficiency and expertise in specific technical areas through literature research.6. Develops and designs experimental strategies for projects which includes evaluating ideas for application to existing projects, or which lead to new or improved products or processes.7. Ensures conformance to in-house specifications and regulatory requirements.8. Must have close and color vision. REQUIREMENTS:1. BS/BA in a scientific discipline and 8+ years experience in R&D, in a manufacturing or laboratory environment. PhD preferred.2. Strong scientific knowledge of diagnostics & instruments used in a research and development environment.3. Understanding of GMP. Solid understanding of design control process. 4. A high level of competency in one or more scientific disciplines, including proficiency in laboratory work and understanding of fundamental theoretical concepts. 5. Ability to simultaneously manage time-dependent projects; ability to apply reason to problem solving and corrective action. Demonstrated problem-solving and troubleshooting ability. 6. Effectively managing projects, problem-solving and addressing corrective actions. 7. Ability to read, analyze and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, and/or governmental regulations. 8. Excellent written and verbal communication skills; must be able to write clear reports and procedures. Ability to perform advanced mathematical calculations. 9. Excellent interpersonal skills that will enable building of working relationships both inter and intra-department. 10.
