Canon U.S. Life Sciences, Inc. is dedicated to exploring potential applications of Canon's core technologies to the field of life sciences. We are interested in individuals with outstanding credentials to participate in the virtual ground-up development of a life sciences company, backed by a leading global corporation. We are seeking an outstanding scientist to adapt and develop PCR-based assays for a new platform featuring leading edge Canon technology and engineering. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a team-oriented environment with both scientists and engineers in Canon's state-of-the-art, life sciences research facility in Rockville, MD. This Senior Scientist will manage external collaborations with our university and company partners to identify new pharmocogenetic targets and develop PCR-based assays for our Lab-on-a-chip platform. We are looking for someone with an excellent background and experience in human genetic assay development and a strong desire to make the benefits of personalized diagnostic medicine readily accessible to the medical community through new, low-cost and high performance Canon platforms. Ph.D. in human molecular genetics or closely related field. 4+ years, post Ph.D. experience, in progressively more responsible MDx R&D positions. 2+ years of direct experience in commercial diagnostic, PCR-based assay R&D. Experience and broad knowledge of human molecular diagnostic assay technology and targets, including human, pharmacogenetic assays. Excellent representational skills and successful project management experience with university/industry collaborative R&D. Strong desire to develop molecular diagnostic assays development utilizing novel chemistries and instrumentation.
