Senior Scientist - Formulation - (Job Number: 0805981) DescriptionThe Senior Scientist &- Formulation located in Skillman, NJ will participate in highly technical projects, develop innovative solutions to problems in personal care products, topical delivery of formulas to skin, new product formulations and forms, develop new claims and efficacy models and/or aesthetics benefits. Prepare experimental design, collect data and draft technical reports, identify and develop creative approaches to problems. The candidate will be meticulous and detail-oriented in the execution of experiments and has a proven track record of preparing detailed documentation and record keeping. The ideal candidate will have strong scientific skills, will work well with others including outside research labs, contractors, suppliers and external business partners. The candidate will have thorough working knowledge of and ability to work with a variety of formulation technologies such as emulsions, surfactants, and with physical measurement techniques. The individual will collect and collate data for presentation. Types of projects candidate can expect to work on during the first 6 months in this position: Development of skin care formulations and evaluation of skin care products, basic formulation science and consumer/clinical studies. Understanding of basic chemical technologies, experimental design. A B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in the field of Biology, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Pharmaceutical Sciences is required. An ACS certification for undergraduate degrees is preferred. Experience in formulation and product development, development of consumer products, research laboratory experience, and experimental design are required. Preparation of clinical studies is preferred. Strong interpersonal skills are required. Strong written and oral communication skills are required. 2 - 4 years experience preferred in one or more of the following areas: surfactants, interfacial/surface science, cosmetic formulation, physical chemistry, skin care product development and cosmetic product development. Experience in aesthetics is preferred. Some travel is required.
