Job Description Senior Operating Systems Programmer Position Summary: Reviews, analyzes, develops, installs, and modifies computer operating and transactional processsing systems on both mainframe and I-Series machines. Detects, diagnoses, corrects, and reports operating system (Mainframe / I-Series) related problems. Provides technical expertise to customers and Technology Services teams on how to configure, architect, and support applications and technologies in a both Mainframe and I-Series environments. Is considered to be the top level contributer/specialist. Relies on extensice experience and judgment to provide highest commitment to operational standards and controls. A wide degree  of creativity and latitude is expected. Provides mentoring and training to other Operating Systems programmers and operations staff. Typically reports to the Operating Systems Programming Supervisor. Minimum Requirements and Qualifications: Bachelor degree in Computer Science or 7+ years of experience in Systems programming. Candidate must have 3 - 5 years of experience working on MVS operating systems, with the ability to analyze system performance. Non-Negotiable Hiring Criteria: - Extensive knowledge with Computer Associate software products. Must have the ability to install, maintain and debug issues with all of their products. - Extensive experience with SMP/E. Ability to install products and updates to any software package using this software. - Ability to write assembler code and debug both program and system dumps. - System Programming experience with MVS operating systems. Job Level: Experienced
