Senior Molding Engineer (Plastics)

The demand and market for our products is growing, as a result we have the following position available:
Sr. Molding Engineer
Responsible for the developing and validating molding processes for our products to achieve significant quality, efficiency and/or cost improvements.Requires participation in new product development programs, identifying design-for-manufacturability issues and ensuring these issues are addressed prior to release.This individual will be responsible for driving multiple improvement programs through to implementation and following-up on the results achieved, including:
Quality Monitoring and Actions
· Review and chart customer and in-process defect data and identify highest frequency and most critical failure modes.
· Develop corrective actions to resolve issues and implement changes.
· Follow up to ensure problem is resolved.
Production Efficiency
· Review molding processes for opportunities to improve efficiency and throughput.
· Complete time studies, revise line layouts, and implement selective automation to improve efficiency.
· Implement changes and complete operator training.
Document and Implement Approved Changes
· Develop and gain approvals for all test protocols.
· Perform or facilitate all the required testing as specified in the protocol.
· Review, analyze and document test results in a test report.
· Generate all the required documentation ( Drawings and BOM’s, Manufacturing Instructions, Costing, Implementation Analysis ) required to submit an Engineering Change Order (ECO).
· Implement changes to Manufacturing upon ECO approval.
Skills, Education and Experience Required:BS in Plastics Engineering 5 plus years work experience in injection molding, preferably with polycarbonate and PVC Experience in a Medical Device environment a plus Proven experience utilizing Lean and Six Sigma concepts Effective interpersonal skills and writing skills Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
