Senior Market Research Manager - Oncology (Oncology REQUIRED): My client, a well established biotech company situated outside of Boston, has multiple commercialized products and a solid pipeline.  They are a company committed to growing their current therapeutic areas as well as entering into new ones such as oncology by developing both biotherapeutic proteins and small molecules.  Their corporate values are the framework for how they do business and guide them as they strive to fulfill their mission and deliver on their promise to patients and stakeholders.  Their values are not only reflected in their products, but also in the patient education and support programs they make available.  Their commitment to patients, stakeholders and employees is at the core of all that they do. My client believes in developing their employees' professional skills and in creating a workplace environment that fosters growth and advancement.  The organization is one that is competency-based and provides strategic core curriculum and training programs around these targeted competencies.  The company specifically provides training and development programs designed to incorporate the company's values into employees' daily worklife and into the cultural fabric of the organization.  They offer a state-of-the-art, one week orientation program for all new employees to become fully integrated to the organization, as well as a variety of managerial and professional development programs. The company recognizes the importance of a healthy work/life balance and are committed to helping their employees maintain that balance. My client prides themselves on rewarding its employees by offering a rich, competitive array of benefits and value-added programs. If this sounds like the type of organization you would like to work for, keep reading.  I currently have an opening for a Senior Market Research Manager in their newly formed Oncology group.  This is a highly visible position as this well-established organization establishes their presence in the oncology arena. TITLE: Senior Manager Business Intelligence (Market Research) - Oncology REPORTS TO: Vice President, Oncology Marketing SALARY RANGE:  Up to $120k - $130k's base, plus 20% target bonus RELOCATION:  YES RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide a high level of customer service by conducting primary and secondary qualitative and quantitative market research, competitive landscapes and forecasting to support assessments of US market potential of company's oncology pipeline products, in-licensing opportunities, and new business opportunities.  Working closely with Marketing, Commercial Assessments, Business Analysis and Forecasting, and Business Development, the individual participates actively in company's Oncology's commercial planning efforts by providing unbiased, objective, in-depth information about current and future markets, product performance, customers, and competitors. Additionally, he or she identifies critical business issues and opportunities for growth, collaborates with Oncology Product teams and interacts with global business intelligence functions, and works to embed an external market point-of view into the strategic direction of the company. Develop and implement a US market research plan for oncology pipeline products in conjunction with Global BI Oncology and US Oncology Marketing.Manage primary and secondary market research projects, market/product assessments, competitive intelligence and market data collection supporting the needs of the US Oncology Therapeutic Area, including:q Design and execute primary and secondary market research projectso  Through the design and execution of qualitative and quantitative market research, the BI Sr. Manager is tasked with developing insights, conclusions and recommendations that can be used by management to make better business decisions, better understand current and future competitive landscapes, market trends and to identify opportunities and potential risksq Design and execute primary and secondary competitive landscape assessments (current and future)q Data mine internal/external sources to gain a better understanding of the market dynamics with areas of interest q Identify and assess clinical literature in oncology, focused on incidence/prevalence analyses and treatment algorithms q Support business case development, as requiredq Collaborate closely within Commercial Planning & Operations, Oncology Marketing and Business Development to identify key inputs to assist the development of US based forecasts.  Conduct time sensitive projects to deliver those inputs using a variety of information gathering techniques and align with the Global Oncology Business Intelligence groupq Ability to build (as required) and utilize existing forecast models for scenario analysis, sensitivity analysis, and strategic decision makingq Participate on product teams and/or commercial subteams to represent the needs of the US market in product development processInfluence the teams by building and defending cogent arguments, challenging assumptions and gaining consensus opinion;  Influence business decisions by challenging conventional wisdom with considered, data based points of view q The individual will have responsibility to conduct quantitative and qualitative (both primary and secondary) market research, competitive landscape, and data mining projects: deciding on the appropriate methods, developing the questionnaire/discussion guides with the appropriate internal resources, supervising their implementation, analyzing the results, timely presenting the findings to key internal customers and coming up with actionable recommendationsq Provide clear, thorough, unbiased, and consistent analysis:  market dynamics and market trends, current and future competitive landscapes, product performances, and identifying market opportunities and risks q Responsible for analyzing, correlating and integrating all available data sources in order to provide accurate valuation of pipeline, in-licensing and new business opportunities, including: Secondary market audits, Primary market research, Competitive intelligence, Industry reports, Epidemiology data bases, Clinical literature, and Analyst reportsq Combining  of market research results, market/product assessments, secondary data sources (e.g., prescribing behavior, epidemiology data, clinical trial information, treatment algorithm etc…) and relevant competitive intelligence, this individual will need to assess the impact of market events on forecasting models for early stage compoundsq Maintain relationships with key vendors of market research, competitive intelligence, secondary data, software, and consulting services q Partner with functional areas throughout company – both locally and globallyq Interact with all levels of the organization  QUALIFICATIONS:  EDUCATION/LANGUAGESq The individual should have a BA in a business related field, or B.Sc. An MBA with an understanding of strategy and financial analysis techniques is highly desired. q English requiredPROFESSIONAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCEq The individual should have a minimum of five+ years experience conducting primary (qualitative and quantitative) and secondary market research (both quantitative and qualitative) and developing excel based forecast models in the biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry, preferably, in oncology.  q Minimum two years experience in the oncology therapeutic area (Marketing, Market Research, Consulting, or Forecasting)q Previous experience in consulting and/or commercial assessments for new business opportunities in the pharmaceutical /biotechnology area is desired PERSONAL SKILLS & COMPETENCIESq Strong interpersonal skillsq Excellent communication and presentation skills (both written and oral)q Ability to influence others in a tactful and well thought-out manner with supporting information and logicq Ability to work constructively within a matrix/team environmentq Strong commitment to quality.
