Senior Laboratory Technician

We are seeking a Serology Laboratory Technician to perform clinical laboratory testing within the serology and endocrinology departments and will assist other departments as needed or jobs assigned by supervisor

This is a third shift position. Hours: Monday - Wednesday, 11:30pm - 8:00am, Saturday, 6:00pm - 2:00am, Sunday, 1:30pm - 9:30pm.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES of SEROLOGY: Perform and read serological laboratory tests by the following methodologies: AGID, RSAT, IFA, ELISA, RID, MAT, western blot, SNAP kits, and precipitation assays. Process samples for testing. Print all work lists from the computer and input results into the computer. Read, understand, and following SOP guidelines Answer telephone inquiries from lab personnel and clients regarding sample submission, available tests, and patient results. Assist in the training of new personnel. Assist in providing coverage for other shifts during high volume and/or short staffing. Other duties as assigned by the supervisor or senior techs Adhere to the Accident and Illness Prevention Program Be willing to work in any area of the laboratory if assistance is needed by that department. Active participation in training Lab Technicians Active participation in monitoring and tracking supplies in the Hematology Department. Serve as primary source of information regarding department methodologies. Can be assigned authority over other departmental personnel. Review Instrument QC at the beginning of each shift, and responsible for ensuring QC is performed throughout the shift. Proficient at reviewing and releasing CBC results. Ability to do corrected reports and call clients with results. Proficiency in performing reproducible differentials according to the standards set by IDEXX. Perform and report accurate results of testing procedures in a timely manner. Provide accurate laboratory results in a timely manner. Maintain quality control procedures. Keep laboratory supervisor notified of any problems in department, specimens, results, reagents, equipment, supplies, etc. Ability to understand and follow GCP regulation in performing contract research work. Rea, understand and follow all applicable SOPs. Adhere to Accident and Illness Prevention Program

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION: 7L-MT (ASCP), Military MT equivalent, or IDEXX trained equivalent

EXPERIENCE: 1-3 years experience
