Senior Engineer - (Job Number: 0807769) DescriptionEthicon, Inc.- Develops and markets products within three divisions: Ethicon Products Worldwide for wound closure and tissue repair; Johnson && Johnson Wound Management with biosurgical technologies to manage intra-operative bleeding and postoperative leaking, as well as advanced wound care products; and Ethicon Women's Health && Urology with minimally invasive gynecological and urological solutions in stress urinary incontinence, pelvic floor repair and uterine disorders. Ethicon, Inc. a member of the Johnson && Johnson Family of Companies is currently recruiting for a Sr. Engineer located in Raritan, NJ. The Sr. Engineer will support the Biosurgicals Research and Development team to facilitate the discovery and development of advanced hemostats. The successful candidate must be able to work in a project-focused organization. Ensure the work is conducted in accordance with current requirements. Maintain compliance with all appropriate SOPs for laboratory work and data recording. Use and maintain laboratory equipment in accordance with established SOPs. Perform other duties as assigned. Able to design, execute studies, and interpret study results independently. Maintain state-of-the-art knowledge on relevant scientific literature. Must comply with safety guidelines including maintaining up to date training and proper documentation of lab notebooks and logbooks. The primary responsibilities for the Sr. Engineer are to apply intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields, make decisions independently on engineering problems and methods. Also the use of advanced techniques and the modification and extension of theories, precepts and practices of his/her field and related sciences and disciplines, supervision and guidance related largely to overall requirements, critical issues, new concepts, and policy matters, consult with supervisor concerning unusual problems and developments and responsible for performing design reviews and pre-validation assessments to ensure the safe and environmentally sound development of products and start-up of new processes. A minimum of a Bachelors degree or advanced degree in Polymer Science, Engineering, Material Science or a related discipline and experience in drug/biologics delivery, medical device product design, process development, verification and validation is required. A minimum of 3 years of previous related industry experience is required. A post-graduate degree is highly preferred. Must have the ability to independently design and execute experimental studies and interpret study results based on science and engineering principles. Effectively document data in notebooks, in oral presentations and written reports is required. A proven track record in a Research && Development environment is also required.
