Adolor Corporation is a biopharmaceutical company located in suburban Philadelphia specializing in the discovery, development and commercialization of novel prescription pain management products. Adolor has more than 120 employees working in areas including discovery research, drug development, clinical research, manufacturing, business development and marketing.

 

Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Research & Development, the Senior Director, Project Management will use effective leadership and project management skills and techniques, lead cross-functional pharmaceutical development teams to establish and achieve short and long-term objectives product development and regulatory submission goals that comply with overall company objectives.  The incumbent will ensure alignment between technical plans and commercial objectives and will be ultimately accountable for on-time, on-budget and on-target deliverables. Additionally, the Senior Director, Project Management will be accountable for a robust communication, cross-functional processes and will manage a portfolio review system.


RESPONSIBILITIES

 Defines and achieves organizational project planning best practices Implements effective Project Management and communication systems Drives the portfolio review process Functions within teams and the organization as the development strategy leader and collaborates to identify and address issuesMotivates, challenges and leads teams to achieve innovative and executable development plans that efficiently satisfy corporate goals Clearly communicates team strategy and project value and status in written reports, formal and informal presentations, and one-on-one conversationsEffectively manages organizational expectationsUtilizes industry, company, and portfolio-level perspectives to create to maximize company resource allocation and develop company assetsUnderstands and communicates key attributes of each project and ensures that prioritization decisions are consistent with accepted valuations and agreed upon strategiesEffectively manages working relationships between Adolor and its collaborative partners.



JOB QUALIFICATIONS

 BA/BS required, PhD or MD preferredA minimum of 12 years of related experience in the pharmaceutical industry is requiredA minimum of 5 years in project management is requiredExperience leading a steam through a successful NDA submission strongly preferredExperience with portfolio review strongly preferredExperience leading a cross-functional pharmaceutical development teamStrong written and verbal communication skillsStrong knowledge of all aspects of drug developmentProven ability to anticipate and resolve issues to mitigate risk and achieve objectivesAbility to influence without direct authorityAbility to multi-task effectivelyDemonstrated problem solving skills with the ability to overcome obstacles in order to meet goals and objectivesDemonstrated commitment to continuous learning Proven ability to collaborate with others to achieve a common objectiveAbility to adapt to changing circumstances and priorities
