McNeil Nutritionals, LLC is a global marketer of nutritional products that give people the ability to actively manage their own health. The Senior Buyer will be responsible developing and executing a sourcing strategy that will drive measurable improvements in the areas of customer satisfaction, compliance and cost benefits. Work in support of Corporate and Global Strategic Sourcing initiatives associated with the assigned functional area of responsibility. Coordinate and leverage opportunities with other J&&J partners (ex. Contract Manufacturing, Engineering, IM, Sales) and affiliates. Champion the use of eSourcing and other best practices for sourcing events. The Senior Buyer will be responsible for Category Management, to utilize expertise in specific commodity areas, developing in-depth knowledge of the industry, the suppliers and their capabilities, strengths and weaknesses, the industry's competitive dynamics, and technology trends. Strategically map supplier industry spending and use appropriate levers to employ in preparing for negotiations for value gains. Execute financial analysis according to priority and functional business plan. Demonstrate business knowledge and expertise in category that includes the supplier base, business trends and the business goals of the internal partners. Inform Management and Business Partner of market conditions and developments. With management, act as a liaison to global procurement category leads communicating strategies, recommendations and initiatives as appropriate. The role will involve strategically managing existing Tier 1 supplier relationships that focus on total cost of ownership and supplier value. Encourage innovation through supply base. Develop and manage new Tier 1 supplier relationships. Act as liaison between business partners and vendors. Transactions require understanding of the complications of the marketplace that affect purchasing decisions such as prices versus quality versus quantity. Ensure a competitive advantage in cost, value, quality, compliance, service and innovation. Facilitate and lead meetings with suppliers and business partners. Facilitate an effective negotiation process for: external and internal information gathering and analysis; assessment for supplier agreement opportunities; negotiation plan preparation and execution; and agreement management to maximize benefits. Act as liaison between company legal counsel, supplier legal counsel, and business partners to facilitate the development of commercial terms and conditions, contracts and agreements for the purchase of goods and services. The Senior Buyer will team with local functional business partners, and where applicable, global partners to participate in the development of the business plan relating to supplier utilization. Assess the current supplier base, identify business partner needs, map strategies, and work with suppliers to negotiate and finalize appropriate agreements to meet those needs. Drive continual improvement and business results through use of process excellence, data analysis and driving innovation through the supply base. Work with functional teams to re-engineer business processes, implement new technologies, and move suppliers to higher value-added positions. Keep manager and other buyers informed and/or consult with them on matters of unusual or special importance. Recommend strategies, process improvements, and other value added initiatives and provides team leadership on projects as applicable. A minimum of a Bachelors degree is required. A minimum of 4 years procurement experience is required. Experience with contract negotiation is required. Experience with Chemical or Ingredient procurement is preferred. Experience with generating and managing RFI/RFP process is a plus. Experience with six sigma/ process excellence training tools, training and/ or certification is preferred. Experience with SAP and/or ARIBA is a plus. Ability to work independently with an ability to anticipates and resolves all complex problems are desired.
