Senior Accountant

 

Adolor Corporation is a biopharmaceutical company located in suburban Philadelphia specializing in the discovery, development and commercialization of novel prescription pain management products. Adolor has more than 120 employees working in areas including discovery research, drug development, clinical research, manufacturing, business development and marketing.

 

The Senior Accountant produces the majority of Adolor’s financial reports which are required by the SEC and other oversight bodies.  The Senior Accountant is involved with the monthly, quarterly and annual general ledger closing process to facilitate timely and accurate financial reporting.  The incumbent works with the Company’s cash and investment portfolio.  The Senior Accountant generates the daily cash report and serves as back up for the payroll function.

 RESPONSIBILITIES

· Generates financial statements, including but not limited to 10K and 10Q and performs Accounting duties in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404.

· Assists with the preparation of the quarterly and annual audit package, SOX package, tax return package and 401K package.

· Assists with the preparation and review of all SEC filings.

· Reconciles various general ledger accounts and prepares related journal entries, including but not limited to cash and investment accounts, prepaid insurance accounts and payroll accounts.

· Manages the Company’s fixed asset additions, disposals and depreciation.

· Prepares the daily cash report.

· Processes the monthly sales tax report and payments.

· Assists in the preparation of the management reporting packages and reviews results with department heads.

· Performs ad hoc projects as required.

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

· Bachelors degree in accounting required or equivalent work experience.

· CPA preferred.

· Five (5)+ years experience in public accounting or as an accountant in the corporate accounting team of a public company.

· Previous demonstrated experience with automated accounting systems, including for fixed assets, payroll and general accounting systems.

· Previous experience working in the pharmaceutical industry preferred.

· In depth experience in general ledger management including journal entry preparation and account analysis and reconciliation. 

· Demonstrated understanding of SEC accounting and disclosure requirements, including understanding of Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404.

· Demonstrated proficiency with the MS Office suite of products, including Excel, Word, Outlook.
