With a deep and broad pipeline of potential new medicines, we continue to advance science to serve patients.We are currently seeking a highly motivated drug metabolism scientist to become a member of Small Molecule Drug Metabolism Group in Pharmacokinetics/Drug Metabolism (PKDM) department at Amgen Thousand Oaks. The Scientist will be responsible for characterization of drug metabolites to aid discovery and development of new small molecule drug candidates. Responsibilities include:- Employ nominal and high-resolution mass spectrometry techniques to characterize metabolites from in vitro and in vivo bio-matrices. - Design and execute mechanistic metabolism experiments to elucidate metabolic reaction pathways.- Collaborate with colleagues to design and implement overall metabolite strategies and resolve drug metabolism issues in drug discovery and development.- Participate in broad-based interactions with internal/external collaborators.An understanding of complementary techniques like NMR and experience in bio-synthesis of metabolites would be a plus.Ph.D. or the equivalent in biochemistry, chemistry, medicinal chemistry or a related field and a 0-4 years of relevant postdoctoral or industrial experience. The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of mechanistic drug metabolism and proven mass spectrometry experience for structural elucidation. An understanding of complementary techniques like NMR and experience in bio-synthesis of metabolites would be a plus. Prior experience in multidisciplinary project teams is highly desirable. Proven publication/presentation record and have demonstrated excellent oral & written communication skills. Proven ability to work independently, enthusiastically; demonstrated ability to work in a time sensitive, fast paced, and multiple project setting.
