Sales Training Manager/Senior Manager - CNS: My client, a mid-size pharma company located in a Boston suburb, is a research-based pharma company dedicated to treating and preventing human disease by disovering, developing and commercialing innovative pharma products that are directed toward serving unmet medical needs.  Their commercialization efforts are carried out by their US based primary care and specialty oriented sales force, as well as through out-licensing partnerships. This company has multiple products on the market, as well as being actively engaged in out-licensing agreements.  In the past couple of years, the company has significantly expanded their portfolio through strategic corporate development and licensing agreements.   As a leading specialty pharma company, my client believes in challenging the status quo, which is how they have evolved form an innovative, research-driven group into a fully integrated pharma company with significant potential. The company's employees continue to build their culture.  They've created an environment for people with high energy, who are creative and who can take initiative.  They recognize and value the diversity that each person brings to the organization. Sound like an exciting place to work?  If so, they currently have an opening in their Sales Training Group for a Training Manager specialized in CNS.  This position does have direct reports. TITLE:  Sales Training Manager - CNSREPORTS TO:  Associate Director, Sales Learning & Development - CNSSALARY RANGE: Up to $110,000 - $130,000 base, plus bonus, stock options and restricted stockRELO:  Yes RESPONSIBILITIES: SUMMARY OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Accountable for ensuring the maximization of sales force competency & performance via Training and Development. Measurement based on using performance-based metrics tied to sales results 2. Manage the creation, development and execution of Inline Specialty/CNS Development (all components) program 3. Manage the creation, development & execution of Inline Specialty/CNS Advanced programs 4. Responsibilities include the creation of training content and the management of its delivery to the field representatives through the Specialty Area Business Managers/Regional Directors during POA meetings 5. Manage the Training Needs and Business Planning for the Regions within your geographic responsibilities6. Manage the internal “Bench Strength” & Human Resource Development needs within your geographic responsibilities 7. Provide resources necessary in executing the organizational development plans targeted towards increasing internal “bench strength” to support the rapid expansion needs of the organization 8. Undertake an annual review of the Region’s business objectives & set the regional direction for the Specialty/CNS training function and ensure objectives are aligned with the strategic vision of the organization and the training function 9. Manage the training budget for all Regional training costs 10. Analyze and solve highly complex people performance issues, specifically at the Sales Representative level, & develop alternative solutions to assist ABM’s & Regional Directors to resolve performance issues &maintain productivity 11. Develop customized solutions to meet local needs where appropriate 12. Provide support and direction to Specialty/CNS ABMs to ensure all Sales Representatives are provided training to maximize their potential 13. Manage the orientation process and on-the-job rotations for new Specialty/CNS Sales Representatives to maximize the ramp-up of new individuals to the sales organization 14. Work with Specialty Regional Directors to plan, implement & facilitate regional and district POA meetings, based on overall guidelines provided by Home Office 15. Collect metrics to evaluate training delivered to the field to ensure consistency, quality and effectiveness 16. Manage the administration and attendance of regional participants attending both corporate, regional and district training programs 17. Manage local training records and ensure all records are current & maintained accurately and provided to Home Office Training Staff as requested 18. Demonstrate solid knowledge of adult learning principles and the requirements for development and implementation of appropriate training interventions 19. Stay abreast of trends within the training and development field and adopt new approaches as appropriateESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS REQUIRED FOR JOB 1. Responsible for critical Specialty/CNS training functions including curriculum planning, and execution, POA development, Ancillary training program development 2. Assess National & Regional Specialty/CNS leadership training needs and ensure the sales force is adequately prepared for new product launches & ongoing training to maximize business results 3. Determine training priorities within the Specialty/CNS Regions to ensure the effective rollout of corporate initiatives 4. Maintain critical communication channels with all Home Office departments and ensure culturally consistent messages are conveyed as part of all training and communication opportunities 5. Accountable for ensuring the maximization of sales force competency and performance via Training and Development. Measurement based on using performance-based metrics tied to sales results 6. Track, manage LMS system for specified programs and projects 7. Work throughout the commercial and corporate organization in accomplishing training projects  REQUIREMENTS: Experience required5 - 7 YearsExperience and other requirementsKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED 1. Strong planning and organizational skills, Analytical thinking skills 2. Ability to work effectively with multiple levels of management 3. Solid understanding of adult learning principles 4. Demonstrated ability to hold others accountable to deadlines and responsibilities. 5. Business acumen 6. Excellent communication/presentation skills, both oral and written 7. Expertise in sales and training to ensure credibility with Sales Representatives and ABMsEducation Bachelors Degree (preferably in business or life sciences), MBA helpfulExperience Minimum of 1 year sales training or sales management/leadership with demonstrated mastery of the job accountabilities. Minimum of 3 years first line (District/Area Sales Manager) pharmaceutical sales management experience. Pharmaceutical experience in Primary Care, Speciality and Institutional Markets with demonstrated mastery of the job accountabilities. Project management experience a plus.Complexity Ability to multi task and handle multiple projects at one time.
