The American Red Cross Blood Services is looking for a motivated and experienced Safety Officer to be responsible for developing and implementing all safety programs and training to comply with regulatory requirements; identify, recommend and implement approved new parameters to measure, monitor and enhance employee safety.  Oversees and manages safety programs in assigned locations, assists with Worker's Compensation, general liability and vehicle accident claims, reporting of claims to resolution and record-keeping. Analyzes claims, loss and injury statistics and develop recommendations for reductions in claim losses; prepare reports as needed and maintains records for reporting to management and employees.  Conducts periodic facility safety inspections and manages results to ensure compliance. Sponsors regional Safety Committee, providing support and guidance via regular meetings, events and other communications tools.  Manages safety audits by American Red Cross and external agencies and handle any findings through resolution.

Qualifications:Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in safety-related field or equivalent work experienceMinimum of three to five years of related safety/risk management work experience with OSHA and other safety regulatory agenciesPractical skills and knowledge of safety rules and regulations requiredComputer proficiency requiredProject management as well as excellent communications and organizational skills requiredDemonstrated ability to work independently.
