SR. SAFETY SPECIALIST

Develop, implement and monitor Covidien programs and policies to ensure a safe working environment and compliance with federal, state and local safety, health, and environmental regulations for the nuclear pharmacy operations.Creates, reviews, and updates standard operating procedures related to SH&E and provides input on other operations SOP’s. Reviews engineering design projects. Develops online training in emergency response, hazardous material handling, life safety, ergonomics, compliance related activities and other topics as necessary. Oversees safety programs including ergonomics, fleet safety, hazard identification and inspections, hazardous chemical safety, and industrial hygiene.Recommends corrective actions where safety, health and environmental hazards exist. Tracks and trends incident data and leading indicators to provide regular reports and recommendations to management. Coordinates administration of the worker’s compensation program with the occupational nurse and a third party administrator.Support implementation of appropriate procedures to assure regulatory systems are being maintained and standards are being met in regards to NRC, Agreement state, DOT, OSHA and EPA regulations.Coordinate the development and delivery of effective radiological and occupational safety training programs.Assist in the development and implementation of processes for reviewing new processes, procedures, and other significant management of change.Provide support to the pharmacies’ radiation protection and SH&E programs.Develop and provide appropriate training to regional health and safety specialists, pharmacy safety representatives, and pharmacy management.Perform incident investigations following radiological, safety or quality incidents and recommend corrective actions for implementation.Requirements: B.S. in Safety or closely related field preferred.3-5 years of progressive experience administering safety programs. Fleet safety knowledge preferred. Radiation safety experience desirable. Strong Leadership skills, independent worker.Excellent communication skills and team player Primarily office environment. 50% travel is expected.
