SR. MAINTENANCE ENGINEER

Covidien (formerly Tyco Healthcare) has an immediate opening in St. Louis, MO for a Senior Maintenance Engineer. The St. Louis, MO plant is located near downtown Saint Louis, MO and the plant produces bulk pharmaceutical products. Typical Responsibilities: Responsible for the engineering design, troubleshooting, implementation, and maintenance of the plant mechanical equipment. Diagnose plant equipment problemsDevelop and implement equipment modifications and/or replacementsDevelop, maintain, and occasionally perform predictive and preventive maintenanceDetermine equipment spare parts requirementsDevelop and implement equipment based procedures; standards, construction specifications, work instructions, etc.Provide technical and maintenance support on processes and projectsConduct inspections of subcontracted maintenance activitiesProvide Project Management responsibilities for capital and expense projectsMaintains maintenance plant documentation electronically and hard filesLeads cost reduction effortsProvides technical support for weekend/off-shift coverageDesigns and determines equipment specificationsEnforces and assists in the development of plant standardsEstablishes recommended spare parts listsResponds to all quality audit corrective actionsLeads the Process Safety Management (PSM) effort for his/her areaLeads the LDAR Management effort for his/her areaObtains outside engineering services as neededParticipates in long term improvement plans for his/her areaSupports all capital projects as the area engineering resourceLeads efforts to improve equipment reliability for his/her areaProvides corrective actions for repetitive failures in the areaActs as the Project Manager for certain area projectsIssues purchase orders for improvements effortsInitiates and modifies preventive maintenance instructions as necessaryRequirements: Background Preferred: B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent engineering discipline; a M.S. degree in Engineering Management or related technical field is a plusExperience: Minimum of 5-7 years experience in a manufacturing facility as a Plant Maintenance Engineer, experience in an FDA controlled industry is preferredExtensive Experience with HVAC Systems is preferredCertifications in LEAN Manufacturing and Six Sigma is preferredKnowledge of governmental requirements – FDA, cGMP, EPA, OSHA is preferredProblem solver experienced in engineering, maintenance, and manufacturing operations.
