Manager OpExNellcor Puritan Bennett, is now the Respiratory and Monitoring Solutions (RMS) business unit of Covidien, formerly Tyco Healthcare. RMS systems are used to monitor, diagnose and treat respiratory disease and sleep disorders, and they provide life sustaining ventilation and oxygen support for patients. For more information, visit us as www.covidien.com SUMMARY OF POSITION: As a core member of the Operational Excellence team, this person mentors Green Belts (~50%), runs process improvement projects throughout Covidien (~35%), and assists in corporate training (~15%).ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:• Assists in the coordination and development of the organization’s Operational Excellence deployment plan.• Assists senior leaders and champions in selecting projects that align with business/functional goals and strategies.• Coaches and mentors Black Belt, Green Belt, and Lean candidates to ensure timely completion of their projects - ultimately leading to the candidates’ certification. • Leads divisional improvement projects of significant size and scope• Assists in the delivery of Black Belt, Green Belt, LEAN, and DFSS course material.• Assists leadership in establishing baseline and target metrics for key business/functional processes. • Ensures project tracking dashboard is maintained and results are communicated monthly to Director of Operational Excellence.• Works with leadership in installing organizational supports for Operational Excellence (reviews, communications, rewards, software, etc.)Requirements: MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:• Must have Black Belt certification• Must be able to function in a team environment. • Must be able to directly lead and/or co-lead high-impact process improvement projects.• Ability to manage multiple projects.• Proven skills working with cross-functional teams.• Presentation skills required.• Consulting experience is a plusEducation: BS/BA degree or equivalent degree in Business Management, Engineering, or other related field of study. MBA, MS or other technical graduate degree preferred.Experience: Certified Black Belt with a minimum 7 years of business operations and/or plant manufacturing or engineering experience, which includes a minimum of 3+ years of demonstrated process improvement success. Skills/Competencies: • Solid past performance as a project manager. • Strong analytical/statistical problem solving tools. • Broad business knowledge and ability to link customer needs with business processes. • Strong Coaching and Facilitation skills. Training and proven accomplishments in Six Sigma Methodologies. • Excellent oral/written communication skills and platform skills. An understanding of and proficiency in Change Management.
