For more information, visit us at "http://www.covidien.com"We have an immediate opening for a Facilities Supervisor for our Carlsbad, California facility.Responsibilities: •Keeps abreast of all aspects of facilities management within a corporate environment and ensures that facilities activities comply with all statutory requirements.•Maintains ongoing professional relationships with landlords, property managers, city officials, architects, consultants, contractors, and vendors. •Works with Safety Department to maintain company-wide programs in environmental health and safety management to ensure employee safety and compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations. •Monitors and tracks vendor contracts, and prepares other facilities service and maintenance management documentation. Takes corrective action to bring about required changes and ensures contract requirements have been executed at a level above the specified standards.•Ensures that all facilities are operated and maintained in a cost-effective and safe condition in accordance with the approved budget.•Interfaces with upper management regarding the direction of financial, contract, and customer strategies for the facility.•Resolves problems and/or conflicts and maintains open communication with the client as well as ensuring that the building is maintained to a high standard.•Develops and tracks effective building maintenance scheduling and preventive maintenance programs in the areas of plumbing, carpentry, painting, plastering, electrical, HVAC, telephone systems, furniture, locksmith, process gas, mechanical units, compressors, space planning, shipping/receiving, site/building security, building life safety and fire protection systems .•Establishes process performance metrics; tracking, analyzing and reporting performance in terms of quality, safety, cost, and customer satisfaction. •Directs and manages the workforce: hires & terminations, career counseling, coaching, training, creating and conducting performance management reviews.•Performs other duties as requiredRequirements: Qualifications for this position include: •Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in the facilities/property management field. •Minimum of five years experience in facilities management or related field within the medical device, pharmaceutical or biotech industry.•Experience in regulated environments and in maintaining compliance using regulatory standards (FDA, CFR’s, cGMP, GCP, GLP, ISO 9000).•In depth knowledge of facilities operations with a technical focus on building maintenance, utilities, equipment and asset management.•Working knowledge of procurement, contract administration and corporate/project budget processes.•Must be detail oriented, able to excel under pressure as well as demonstrate competence, flexibility, and promptness in dealing with changes and unanticipated challenges in a corporate environment.•Ability to work independently and exercise a high degree of initiative, leadership and problem solving skills. •Ability to effectively interact, communicate, and negotiate with all levels of internal/external clients.•Must be dependable, highly motivated, flexible and a self-starter with a positive attitude and have excellent interpersonal, organizational, written and verbal communication skills. •Must have strong computer skills in desktop applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Project Management and financial analysis tools.•Project and CMMS management experience, a plus•Experience with or current certification from AFE, ASHE, APPA, or a similar organization a plus.AA/EOETo apply online, please use the following link: Apply To Covidien Click here to see all “Covidien” opportunities Visit our web site to learn more about Covidien EMAIL THIS JOB TO A FRIENDCOVIDIEN, COVIDIEN with Logo and "positive results for life" are trademarks of Covidien AG. ©2007 Covidien AG or its affiliate.
