Research Technician
Position Description:
A research technician position is immediately available to work in a well-funded Air Force and DoD funded laboratory located within The University of Cincinnati College of Medicine within the Department of Molecular Genetics, Biochemistry and Microbiology. Several projects are currently being pursued in basic biological, biotechnical and advanced applied biosciences technology in direct support of Air Force and DoD biodefense mission needs. The incumbent will make significant and immediate contribution solving basic scientific and technical needs and will have unique opportunities to interact with outstanding researchers from academia, DoD and corporate labs. QUALIFICATIONS:
BA/BS or MS degree in Molecular, Cell, or Microbiology, Immunology, genetics or related discipline. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in BSL-2/3 environments and will be given highest priority. The ideal candidate must be highly motivated to complete tasks with strict time-lines, outstanding attention to detail and will display high motivation and impeccable note keeping and superb adherence to safety guideline and requirements. Candidate must be performance driven, possess intense enthusiasm to help drive scientific discovery and capable of working in a fast paced, team-oriented multi-investigator environment. Good written, oral and interpersonal communication skills are essential.

JOB SKILLS and DUTIES: The ideal candidate will possess demonstrated experience and proficiency in the following job skills: molecular biology techniques including cDNA library synthesis and screening, real-time PCR, site-directed and random mutagenesis, genetic cloning, DNA vector construction, and plasmid preps. Strong microbiology skills including cultured growth, plating, storage, genetic manipulation and recombinant expression and protein purification will be given high priority. ELISA, electrophoresis, UV-Vis and FTIR spectroscopy would be useful. Professional animal handling experience should be stated. Please address skill and experience level for each or all of these areas on your CV/resume. Please be specific.
